couple cans on Ebay at the moment one Titanium one Carbon... My 03 Mille has a Carbon Can Co pipe on it and im looking to replace it with something a bit better.

So Carbon Vs Titanium

Opinions???

I've been told that an RSV will blow a pure carbon one to pieces because its power pulses are too strong. I'm running a Blue Flame carbon can but it has a titanium sleeve (or 'substrate' as they call it) underneath for added strength. Personally, I think titanium is the sexiest metal ever dug out of the earth but as long as it's strong enough then it's down to which you like better. Akras are definitely the can of choice for the 'Prilla community so you can't go far wrong with one.

I've heard that a twin pulse can break the carbon down over time but not that it literally blows it apart.

And look at that bleedin' great ship's hooter you've got on yours 1066 - you need a red warning triangle on the end of that, it sticks out so far:devious

i think carbon would look better on mine, but if its just gonna fracture the carbon i guess its pointless. i knew a guy who had the same problem with a TL running carbon cans but they were cheap and nasty

Dito. Twin's, as we all know and as mentioned earlier in this post, have power pulses and it is these and the associated increased heat from a twin as opposed to an i4 that make the carbon brittle and slowly but surely brake it down. Apparently.

I know and have seen alot of people that run carbon cans on twins and don't seem to have any problems, however I've also seen and heard of a fair few brittle, faded and crumbley (is that a word?) carbon cans. Personally I'd go for titanium just to be on the safe side, although while I do think carbon cans look better, titanium cans, especially Akros, don't exactly look bad do they so could be worse.

good advice... but there are people out there who make carbon sleeves to replace knackered ones, im sure i could get a good year out of one

WELL PUT !!!:thumbup:thumbup

Titanium for me...as it doesn't wear out (unless you drag the bugger along the road for 200 yards - oh just me then!)...My Akra is 5 years old but still looks tidy (apart from the bit that's been ground out, that may or may not have originally said - 'not for road use'!!!!!!)

I went for twin Akra's in Ti because they look miles better, and my bike has enough Carbon other bits on!

What other options are there???

I like more modern looking cans Carbon tipped etc.

Perhaps something that isnt 3 yards long :devious as most cans look too big on Mille's

yup, Ti fer me too,(whole system by akra 65mm wide bore) its Very light and no rusty rusty.
my milles all carbon..and although good carbon cans will take the power pulses, they do change colour over time due to the coatings not being uv stable.
Ck

I have a carbon Akra and it is fine mate, maybe the cheaper ones crack but mine is like brand new still.:thumbup
