can someone give an in depth description with pictures of this 4mm rear break mod, please. and try and explain what it does and why it improves the rear break.:dunno

You simply make the rear brake valve 4mm and thus allow more fluid through and massivly improve the brake pad pressure.

You can either drill the existing valve to 4mm (carefully) or as I did just get your garage to fit a new 4mm valve. Costs very little and has excellent results.
 
Hotrout, when you say the rear brake valve, can you describe exactly what mean? Maybe a picture of the part that needs to be drilled or replaced. Not sure if you mean the master cylinder itself, the plastic resevoir or the black plastic connecting piece.

My brake on my 02 R is pretty good but could be better.
 
Drill out the reservoir outlet to 4.5mm and remove the 90 degree piece that enters the M/C, quite difficult to remove but it will come out, drill it out to 4.5mm as well, make sure it is all nice and clean and free of plastic shards, put all back together and bleed properly using dot 4 not 5.1, that is it, allows more fluid due to larger bore to the M/C:thumbup

15/42 and 16/44 is as near as damn it same gearing :dunno
 
I take it the places to drill are the outlet of part No 1, and the elbow union part No 5. what size is the outlet of the resevoir and the 90 deg union as standard. are we talking about drilling out a lot of material. and how did you manage to drill the 90 deg elbow union around the bend, or is the middle of the elbow larger in internal diameter. i think i also read somewhere that you drill the mounting holes out in the master cylinder to allow it to be mounted at a steeper angle reducing air ingress and self bleeding. anyone else heard this.

Heard of it but never did it, i fitted a bleed banjo bolt at the front of the M/C to aid bleeding
