Airbox mod - hard evidence

O

OZMILLE

Ok guys!!

I am still new, and the bike is still not back together. But I need more posts
before you vote my RSV for BOTM lol!!

Anyway, my 1999 runs a full titanium evo headers with arrow link pipe and
remus twin outlet carbon can (its basically a mutt!!) all with PCIII and race filter!! Sounds good doesnt it.:dunno

Now is there any need/evidence for me to take the next step and do this
evo airbox mod, and can still expect a little more as I am already running the
race filter??? Anyone dynoed before and after on this???

Cheers Peter

Hi matey,

Not sure if this will help you but I have a 2000 RSV it had the Aprilia RSC Titanium can and chip, it was dyno'd and gave 111 at the back wheel. I then fitted the Arrow Headers, Shark Twin Shotgun Race Can, PCIII and Evo Airbox. With these mods it gave 119 at the back wheel.

The airbox mod (Evo or Renegade) both give a nice induction roar when accelerating and I think they do increase the mid range & top end a bit (1 or 2 bhp). Definitely a worthwile mod for the money IMO:thumbup (especially if you can pick one up secondhand off Ebay).:biggrin

You have opened up the exhaust system to expell larger volumes of gases more quickly so it makes sense you have to do the same for the intake to reap the rewards. A Race filter makes minimal difference in reality and the early airboxes were well known for not having enough volume for tuning.

Until you get more air in you won't get the gains from the other mods. Do the airbox and if funds permit a pc3/dyno setup
