hi all
i have just took out the tube that fits in the lower part of the airbox in the centre , looks like a tube with a washer in the middle .goes in the part with the tubes either side in the frame . is this better or is it needed
next yes its been said before but charging i was going to do the brown connector but checking the charge rate at the battery i have ;
14.1 volt on idle with dip beam on
13.5 volts at 4000rpm dip on
this was measured at the battery with a volt meter the dash gauge had it about 0.5 volts lower so 13.5 idle and 13.volts 4000rpm
the connector looks fine no crude or corrosion 12 battery not a 14 normally ok but sometimes wont start and resets clocks no pattern to it

hello matey, if you mean the rubber boot showing sticking out the front in the pic (can't a better one) then yes keep it on it is needed, there is conjecture as to which is better for the newer genI mille (i.e. newer or older style boot).
The brown wire mod at the reg/rec is recommended as it does eventually break down over time (and not in all cases) but its more of a preventative maintenance thing.

what pic cant see one
when you look at a pic of the early pre 2000 bit it doesnt seem to have this bit will try to find a pic

LOL sorry matey - was in too much of a rush to go feed the Ponies :) ok I had intended to post number 25 in the pic, number 27 (and the small snorkle is what I'm understanding) no you don't need that, it's a restrictor for countries that have restriction laws).

pphhew thats ok then as i took it out yesterday and havent got time to put it back in but thought if its needed would have to cant see what its for though ta ( yes number 27 small pipe thing)

I took the tube out of my air box collector and i also cut the plate out that holds the tube so its a fully open chamber.
I found by doing this mod it made the bike more responsive.
I also have the earlier collector (number 10 on AF1) and i personally think the later one after being modified is better.

i did think about doing that when i looked at it might do it in winter seems a strange think is it for resonance ie to make it quieter

possibly as well as maybe changing the airbox pressure characterics - there was a debate about it on the apeforums a hwile back.

It was designed just to quieten the induction noise.
Be careful when cutting the plate out as the plastic is brittle, i used a dremmel.
It was a mod well worth doing and it cost nothing, i spent out on the early round collector and although it gave a bit more top end power it made the bike a bit jerky around town and a slight hesitation when over taking.
The modified later collector gave the best overall throttle response and a little more go right through the rev range.
I've not had the bike on the dyno because i know the early collector will give the most hp, its more about smoothness and having the best of both worlds.
