New to RSV

Hi I got my first RSV today, I'm looking forward to going out at the weekend and play on my new toy. I here the RSV is one of the nicest bikes to have. My last bikes where 9R-C2 and a GSXR 750.

I was told "the bike was owned by an Aprilia factory guy, It has been fitted with an additional switch to make the fans run constantly. (that worries me:confused) Is there anything I should look out for. is there a good mechanic in Guildford area that anyone can recommend.

Blue
The VIN is ZD4ME0000YS105280
2001
millie
v60

Keep the battery topped up with Optimate or similar if you leave it for a week or so between rides, if it has an alarm especially, else you'l be left disappointed when you go to start it

Welcome, you're probably not too far from me then as I'm in Windlesham and have an 03 rsv-r (which is in bits currently). I can't tell you if they're any good or not, as I've not ridden mine yet, but looking forward to it when the time does come around!

Just need to get the whole thing repainted, new tyres, MOT and then I'm good to go.

Thats great i'm only in Camberley hopefully see you around. im the nutter on the rare blue 2001 millie.

Looking for someone who knows something about them as i have a few problems to sort after I took tBug out today for the first time and have come up with a few issues. I have to say the sound is amazing but its going to take some getting used to as it seems to prefer being in the top end of the rev range. and its got a bit of a knock sound but it seems to drive relay well when i could get it started. the suspension is a bit soft but I think im a fat bugger.

The clutch seems to slip in 4th and 5th but no other gear

The fuel pump does not always run when you turn the key so it wont start. The only thing that seems to work is removing the earth terminal for a few seconds then its all ok.

On the right screen the temp goes up to 120 and the fans dont cut in. but there is a switch on the bars to turn them on manually.

I also got a message DIAG 1 came up but then went off not seen it again.

A few issues to sort but Im sure it was worth the trade. and to top it off it would seem blue is a rare colour.

I had a problem with my fans running constantly, it was knackered thermostatic switch in the cooling system. Think you may have a problem, the fans should switch on at 100c & go off at 85c maybe the bloke you bought it off couldn't work out how to fix it & bodged in a switch

I had a problem with the thermo switch, managed to fix it by giving it a few taps with a 'spanner' and wd40 on the connectors, but you can get them for about £15.
My fans kick in about 94deg if thats any help. The pos of the sensor if you don't know is nearside, you can see it without lifting the petrol tank

Thats great thanks,
I think i need to find a local aprillia guy in the guildford area do do a few bits for me.
