Put the olde steed into Forza Italia this week for a general sort out prior to France & Summer approaching. Very communicative guys, excellent advice etc... However then came phone call 3....'You know we advised an oil change was needed...?...Well, we've found some metal from the sprag clutch circlip in the oil...' Oh ****! The scenario was either; we'll find the rest of the circlip and put new sprag clutch in & put back together OR We won't find anything and we'll have to strip the engine down....pound signs started floating before my eyes and I understandably felt a bit sick.

God love 'em though, they've flushed out the rougue bits of metal with some '£9.99' oil and put a new sprag clutch on and hopefully will be ready in the morning...hurrah! So a couple of hundred pounds rather than a few thousand pounds later, the moral of the story is......don't believe a non-Aprilia dealer when they say they've serviced the bike before you pick it up, always get it looked at by someone who knows what they're on about!!!:thumbup

Good on ya m8... just as well you put it into the right guys to sort it :thumbup Like you say a few hundred instead of a few thousand for a new engine and god knows what eh. Sprag hassle free riding :thumbup

Sat here all day counting the pennies from the whiskey bottle to help me old mate Newboots for his neww engine and he don't need it after all yyyyiiiippppeeeeee now i've got to put it all back into the bloody bottle...........

Phew ....it's great getting good news when your expecting the worst aint it :thumbup

Don't you just hate 'those' phone calls!!

Good news mate at least the curse hasn't hit you hard, roll on le france or what ever they say haha. speaking of which i didn't what to worry any one but have you seen the weather report:roll
And to DaveRSV i hate making them phone calls i work for a massive vw dealership and its horrible telling a customer how there car that just came in for a service is going to need a 2k repair.

Picked the bike up tonight....bloody hell I was imagining little bits of metal like iron filings...the sprag clutch circlip is the size of a jam jar lid, so the bits of metal are rather large...BUT lets forget about that and the bingo numbers I paid to the garage...the bike runs like a dream, seems more responsive, throttle very light now (new cables) and forks have been sorted ( were dropped way too far through the headstock for VERY quick turning) now feels weird but VERY stable and I'm sure I'll have fun getting used to it again! Anyway thanks for all your comments as they helped to lighten the pain of the whole sorry episode......!
