I get that when starting from cold you have the start lever fully open and adjust to bring the idle under control after started.

When up to temp (stopping for a drink on a ride then setting off again) should the bike just fire from the button, or should it still need a bit of the lever?

Ive done the battery and solenoid upgrade but it still seems to take a good few seconds to fire when warm.

Can only speak for my own machine but once it`s warm no fast idle required, she fires up straight away !!

Well that's good to know, one last thing, now and again when turning the bike off after a good ride there is a metal clunk noise from the gearbox area, is this normal as it doesn't always do it.

Na don't think so. Is it a 'spring loaded' clunk? As far as I know it's the reverse torque going through the sprag clutch. Both milles ive owned have done it, Im sure someone will write in and say the sprag clutch is goosed but im pretty sure its fine.
