just got my wheel back from the tyre fitters with its new supercorsa on, fitted it on bike, adjusted/cleaned chain etc etc etc. Started her up and put her in 2nd gear to check all was ok, thats when i noticed a "wobble" in the tyre. Took it out for a spin, put it back on the stand and all was ok. Wheres this going your all thinking, well i just wondered how the hell they can balance it properly before its been ridden/bedded in ??

Once the tyre is on the wheel , inflated etc .................thats it , full stop.

It will then be balanced as ONE .

Thats where the little bits of alloy come in....weights.

Put on bike and good to go .

Now then, whats the wobble bit ?.

If the tyre is not lined up properly (there is a line on the tyre that runs around the rim evenly) then return to be re-done

yeah, just wondered if the wobble in the tyre would give a false reding prior to balancing. Its probably too little to make any real difference i spose !!

If a wheel or tyre is out in any one place they put a weight on in a relevent place and when spinning these compensate/balance each other out.
Is that relevant ?

i get the weight thing compensating any oddities in the tyre. Maybe i should clarify, standing behind the bike with the engine running and in gear, the movement is ( or was ) left to right and not up and down. Panicked at first cos i thought the wheel had a buckle !!

Off topic but was A Question of Balance an album by the Moody Blues ?

DAVE, yer would imagine that if the tyre wasn't bedded correctly ie off centre that the position of the weight would reflect that.???
