Hi Guys,
I hope someone can point me in the right direction.(UK 02 rsv mille)
I have recently been on tour/rally in NZ and covered a few thousand km's without any trouble except.."starting".
I have done the brown connector thing( on both, the one at the engine end and the one at the regulator end)...."BOTH FRIED"
The dash indicates 13.8v at idle and 12.7v with the lights on,then seems to drop off as I rev up the engine???(up 1.4 volts since doing the brown connectors)
I could not put the bike on charge overnight as we were bush most nights ...no electricity.
I purchased a "jump starter pack" and carried that around with me after the first non starting morning and the old girl starts instantly with that and runs all day,not missing a beat.
The battery is only a year old and holds a charge when not in use,the bike is brilliant, makes an old man very happy.......but I am stumped,I have ordered a yamaha solenoid and will fit that when it arrives but I still feel it could be something else, any ideas would be welcome.
cheers John:dunno

Gday Legs,
a Yuasa ytz 14 bs.......I hope its not stuffed already.

A Yuasa YTZ14-SBS? This is absolutely fine as it has a capability of 230cca (cold cranking amps) which is more than enough zip to start these v twins. If it's fully charged you shouldn't have any worries about starting the bike battery wise.

It could be a lazy starter solenoid. See how you get on with the Yamaha one John. Starting should be instant, the moment the starter is pressed. Any delay i.e a hesitation in turning the bike over indicates a problem
