675 or factory for next bike?

right guys decided to get rid of my 99 mille for next year, as much as i love it i purely fancy a change. i've narrowed down the wish list to a daytona 675 or a factory mille (couldn't go back to an il4!). has anyone ridden both? it'l be mostly a road bike as i've got an nc30 i'm gonna use on track

I've got an 05 Factory and it's a lovely road bike (although I bought it for track, where it's also good). The Ohlins suspension is excellent, so well damped, the ride on the road is very good, and with a lovely engine.
I haven't ridden the Triumph 675, but I have ridden a Speed Triple, and I couldn't stand the monotonous drone from the engine, kept looking for another gear.... and as the 675 is a smaller engine I guess it will be worse. However, most people love the Triumphs......

thanks for the quick reply rod! thats my only concern with the 675, will it seem a bit gutless after my gen1 mille?

Dont do it. get the factory. Our roads arent good enough to justify owning a bike that isnt an event to ride. thats exactly why I`m swapping my 08 R6 for a 02 mille. Because its fun even when going slow. Superport bikes dont make sense unless they are flat out. The triple wouldnt be as bad as the R6, but not as good as the factory in that respect imo.

hi bud ,ask bryanthegoat hes changed his 05 plater for the 675 trumph ive been out on a rideooot with him on both bikes the wee 675 aint slow i can tell you and he loves it to bits but deep down if his ape never gave him as much problems as it did im sure he would still own it .but as they say the bigger the cc the bigger the thump and the bigger the thump the bigger the grin :doug:doug:doug, would be the aprilia for me all day long (sorry bryan ):nana:nana im gonna keep my 2000 mille :inlove till it ends up on ebay as spares lol

lol just found more of these lol :stupid:sucks:thatsgay:bitchslap:bigfinger:banghead:kicknuts:coocoo:banana:loser:bigok:beer2:whoop:flip:fooku sorry guys had to do it :thumbup

Bloody nut job,Lewis it all depends on how you ride and what you want the bike for but i'll tell you one thing the daytona is a better setup bike for the roads and on track i was a whole bunch of time a lap quicker on the tona and its stock i had the ape modded to the max and the tona still is easier to ride flat out, at first i did miss the low down grunt but if you keep the wee bikes revs up she ****** flies, dont get me wrong the extra grunt on a big straight will beat the tona but someone that likes a corner will love the triumph ive had a few ahem races on the roads wi bigger bikes and they cant keep up wi me but ive still to give her a try against the biff meister that'll be a test i'm lookin forward to,the only difference the factory has over the normal rsvr is the sussies and i can tell you m8 me you and 90% of us mortals would never notice the difference between them and the stock forks maybe on the track but a well set up normal forks would be good for us all the time, go and have a go on them i had a factory on ma shoppin list but after a shot on the tona my mind was made up but if you can afford it go for the 09 onwards tona much better than the original 675 but again its up to you everyone is different ,,oh and rod at full chat the daytona sound like an f1 car fukin gorgeous and thats wi the stock can im still lookin for one but thats all im changing on her she is that good stock.......

Odd that this thread should appear when I was thinking the same. I had a go of my mates 05 R6 last night and have to say the only thing it didnt have that the RSV does is the low end grunt (Obviously). Its did everything else better. Beaing in mind the RSV has correctly set up in terms of fuel/suspension etc the R6 made me want another IL4. Was riding significantly faster on the same roads I do on the twin with far less effort. I love my RSV, just think either my riding style has changed or the grass is greener.

I thought the opposite and am currently selling my 08 R6 in favour of buying a mille. And the 08 has more mid range than the 06-07, coz i`v ridden both... :dunno

What ever suits you best really. The R6 was vastly faster, lighter and can be kept in the 9k plus region easy. Was also easier to handle than my RSV, please note mines a Gen 1. The constant ramming up and down the box was a bit of a ballache but I was honestly impressed, wanna swap my 02 RSV for your R6? Go on I dare you.

:sigh:dontgetit:coocoo:banghead who wants to be reving at 9 k when all you need to do is yank the throttle back on the mille and it growls like a mad dog and your off like a **** out of hell ,small bikes = small ***** guys remember that .
never had any arse 6 :loser pass me in the twistys .

Its on ebay mate. Already got myself a haga rep that i`m collecting friday. Where you based? The 08 is better than the 06-07 as far as midrange goes. But yeh i`m with the others cant be arsed to scream everywhere riding on the road. Good on track but I dont do enough of that.

here it is. Must admit it is damn fast once you rev for a 600, Its damn cheap too and got 22 watchers mind so get bidding or make me an offer to end it early.

hmmm, seems like both bikes tick different boxes. all the fancy bits of the factory do draw me in, but you right brian i dont need them! i think the factory is over indulgence and the 675 more to the point. i was all set on the 675 till a couple of weeks ago i saw my mrs grandads gen 2 mille (he's 68 go on boy!) and then saw a black and gold factory on ebay and got a twitchy ****! it might come down to what winter bargain i can find. was there much difference in the running costs brian? cant see a gen 2 mille costing more to run than a gen 1.

I'm with you john, tell it like it is,

To tell you the truth Lewis m8 the only cost saving between the daytona and the 05 rsvr is the petrol ,the insurance is exactly the same as the ape, my only guess iss newer bike i'll cost them more to replace. On the petrol side of things Biff will tell you wot mines was like for fuel the amount of times i had to stop and fill up compared to his gen 1 but i think that was down to my gearing and mods ,i know the old codgers(sorry Biff and Pat) will hate me for saying but the gen 2 is the better of them aprilia wouldn't of changed it otherwise:devious and the only reason they like there bikes compared to a 675 is in there age they have become a bit mmmmm let me see ah thats the word infirm:eek: and cant be bothered to twist their wrists to much as the pain gives them grief:nana:biggrin:thumbup.....lol oh i'll get it tight for that one sorry guys had to i was sounding like an old fart there all serious and that:jack:biggrin

Oh p.s i plan to do more trackdays than road riding if time allows next year so thats the reason i went for the daytona and i couldn't afford the 675r wi the proper ohlins not the mass made aprillia nonesense....so it will come down to wot you want out of the bike mind the factory will be dearer to run than the Rsvr .....

Keep a close eye on the oil level with the 675, they can burn all the engine oil between services & bye bye engine.
