50k today!! yeehaww

C

carbon kid

Well ...she reached 50k today,:doug made sure it was clocked up whilst having loadsa fun knee downy scrapey scrapey with a bit of stoppie action too on the way back from work today.
Now I am very impressed with how the old girl has soaked up the punishment(and yes I'm in a sauna touching all four walls when I say this)..but really had very few probs in the 3 years and 35k that I have personally put on her.
Let me see, starter solenoid went **** up, battery died (original) at 45k(with no warning), leaky leaky oil rad..(rust)..and thats been it.
and I have really kicked her arse everytime I'm out. oil changes every 3k and always had her serviced and used injector cleaner.
Even the ole brake caliper seals and pisons have survived three winters. I love Brembo! and Aprilia.
I have done big miles on kwaks and they literally fall apart after a few winters and some throttle abuse.I usually kill them at about 50-70k and need to change engines
Heres to another 50k and if I kill this engine I'l find some 'polishers' 03 engine with prolly 4 k on it and just slot that in.jobs a good un!:thumbup
I reckon by the time I get back from next years Motogp trip to San Marino it will have clocked over 65K!
cheers Ck

That's good to hear, as the way things are will have to hold onto mine..2 years old and 14k at the mo..
Agree re Kwaks, they're ok for the first 2 years then cause tons of grief..

Yams a bit better

Suzukis good engines but build quality poo

Hondas the best of the Japs..

Aprilia up to press I've been very impressed..

Good to see that mate, all credit to them really, the finish does hold up well IMO, i have done about 60k on mille's and luv em to bits:inlove

Just bought my '02' RSVR with 11K on the clock, by all accounts she should see me through for a couple of years.

Had a ZX6R that I just lost interest in, IL4 do tend to get forgotten once you get bitten by the V Twin bug.

Great milage and a great bike :thumbup

Mine's only on 21000, got a while to go yet :nana

That's is some going that. Never to have an off in all those miles is a testament to your skill.

Have you got any piccy's of the bike when you first acquired her???:inlove:inlove

matey, I have had one off, a month before a trip to mugello. Ik to fix(ouch) and I couldnt walk for a week. So yes, even if you ride off the front tyre, they crash well too!!.
It was a standard 02 matt black mille, before I got me hands on her!.

Any before and after piccys mate?

yeah I will get it sorted tmoz, just though aswell, 35k miles must be what 4 thousand pounds+ in fuel, not to mention servicing and tyres, bloody worth it tho!
ck

Good work there mate. You stuck with that bike all the way. And the bugger is still going strong:thumbup

cheers matey, you have the same model, we have all the torque!(and fun) not like those soft 04 +'s!
CK

Congratulations CK, that is quite some going squire :thumbup Makes a bit of a mockery of those that say modded bikes fail before standard ones! :pirate

It's such a great looking workhorse CK :biggrin...i'd be pretty stoked with that sorta reliability and the enjoyment you've had counted in hours on the ol girl...year 02z arn't they tops :p :thumbup

they sure are mate, for the old model, 125.5 bhp and 75 ft-lbs torque ..and 175kg wet = mega fun.
Fekin brillian motors.
Ck

Congrats Man!! :doug I'm just rolling up on 10K on my 2000 RSVR so I've got lots of riding to look forward to. That also means that if you slow down...I'll catch you. LOL :thumbup Not much chance of that huh?:nana

That's pretty cool, just goes to prove that bikes don't fall apart if you use them all year round :)
