Having a bit of a problem with the RSVR at the min that I though I would share.

It all started a few months back on the way home from BSB at Oulton Park. I stopped for fuel and gave it some revs as I re-joined the motorway following my dad on his GSXR. As I got up to 8,000 rpm plus it started to misfire a little. I thought it must have been from the shock of long journey at constant revs and then stopping and then a sudden burst.

New time out on the bike every time I went about 8,000rpm the bike would mis fire all the time and not rev out. I checked the oil to make sure it wasn't too high and checked everything I could.

New tyre and 42 back sprocket later and the bike was running fine?? Went out for a 100 mile run and stopped for bar meal. After the meal got back on the bike and started it up. It was only running on 1 cyclinder. Stopped it and started it again and still only running on 1. The bike ran for a few seconds before throwing up the EFI light so I guess it wan;t in limp mode as that would run both cylinders and then switch to one when the fault light came on.

I tried to book it into my local Aprilia dealer who said it would be a three week wait! I had a look myself to see if I could manage on my own. I found that it was not firing on the rear cycliner. Both plugs worked when I tried them in the front HT lead and I swapped HT leads round to find they were both fine too. The coil only seemd to be producing a spark to the front cyclinder. I took the Powercommander off and it was still the same. :dunno

I spoke to the Aprilia dealer who said it sounded like the coil had gone. They ordered a coil and booked the bike in.

3 weeks later I took the bike in where they fitted the new coil. Bike still only ran on one and the dealer didn't know what to do. They hadn't even plugged in their diagnostic tool which I then told them to do. They couldn't understand why the Axion was throwing up an open loop code for the fuel injection system which I tried to explain was because t was set to Map 2 for the race cans! They were baffled by the "Bodged" wiring loom which was one wire attached to the throttle posistion sensor for the Power Commander and weren't wise enough to work out how the Power Commander was plugged into the fuel injectors. It wouldn't have taken much for them just to swap the plugs over... I was very dissapointed that it was a warranty claim but becuase that had diagnosed the bike wrongly without looking at it and the coil didn't fix it they lied to Aprilia and said it had fixed it on their report. They were to send the old coils back which were working and said that if Aprilia test them and find they are ok then they will bill the dealer for the parts who will then pass the ill on to me! I said No way am I paying for it and left with the bike in the back of my van still only running on one cyclinder! :jack

I spoke to Don at SouthernCross who said it is likely to be the ECU at fault or even a broken wire. The bike is now booked in With Dave Milling in Whitehaven who said he will find out what the problem is in no time. He said the ECU may have lost it map and just need reloading or it might require a replacement ECU which he has in stock.

Bike is booked in on the 24th July as I am away until then. Hopefully after a few months of waiting it will be running like a stalion again soon rather than a limp mule like it is at the moment!
:devious

That sounds very similar to a problem I had, it turned out to be a corroded wire on the intection system on the rear cylinder.
Was bloody frustrating to ride!!!
Took me ages to find it to
