Took my 2011 RSV4 SE out for some running in, and it let me down. Deep in the non-cellphone coverage outskirts of Westcupcake. Bitchin. 300 miles is as far as she'd taken me. Had done about 50 miles of those this morning, then she refused to fire up. URGENT SERVICE alarm displayed. Bike turns over but does not start. Way to leave a rider in the middle of nowhere. Thankfully this didn't happen at a track day.

I'll keep youse posted...

oh dear, that dosent bode well mate.
Mine did 1500 very wet miles to BRno and back last year with no probs at all.
keep us posted matey

I've justhad the starter motor replaced on my SE. I managed 600 miles and it packed in just around the corner fromthe dealers, which is quite lucky if you look at it that way. New starter motor has been fitted and the old one that was removed shipped back to Aprilia. I'll get my bike back next week so we'll see if the problems sorted!!

Brought the bike to the shop yesterday. The service tech explained finding a front wheel sensor error and a rear wheel sensor error, and one other error that he could not reset. The bike started/ran without issue, but he wanted to further diagnose the remaining error, so at the dealer it remains. Still no explaination as to why the bike did not go into limp home mode, as described in the manual.

URGENT SERVICE ALARM
A serious abnormality is signaled by the
rapid flashing (two flashes a second) of
the general alarm warning light, and by
alternation of the words URGENT and
SERVICE on the digital display. Visit an
Authorized Aprilia Dealer as soon as
possible. In these cases, the electronic
control unit will activate a security procedure,
which limits vehicle performance,
while still allowing the possibility of bring-
ing the vehicle to an Authorized Aprilia
Dealer. Based on the type of abnormality,
performance may be limited in two ways:
a) reducing the maximum possible gear
available; b) keeping the engine at a
slightly increased idle speed (during this
operation, the throttle lever is deactivated).

So, the final answer is...

It seems the unknown "code" is just an archival type file, which cannot be deleted. As explained to me by the service tech. The question as to why the bike refused to start remains unanswered. I am now awaiting return delivery of my bike. And, I'll have to not stray too far from a recovery vehicle, should the need for one rearise.

These are the kind of issues putting me off for now...awesome bike but just seems a bit glitchy at the moment and locally there is only one Aprilia dealer...itching to get the new tuono but with starter motor and random ecu faults on the RSV4 i think i'll hold off til Aprilia get their own heads around the bikes.

Monday, I took the bike out for its first ride since having its ECU cleaned up. After loading the roadside assistance number into my cell, of course. Rolled another couple hundred miles, with no issues. But anytime I reached for that starter button, I got an uneasy feeling...

Aprilia rep requested that I keep track of the fuel consumption. Pace was mostly leisurely, and netted a measured 38 mpg (US).

Here're the error codes, as listed on the RO:
P0501 (front wheel)
P0502 (rear wheel)
P0605 (ROM error attention)
