Had to go into York friday for work, place I had to visit was smack in the middle of a pedestrian area, vehicles only allowed through on business, so thought f**k it will go on the bike as Yorks a nightmare mid afternoon.. Going down a narrow pedestrian area full of people on the RSV had me giggling like a 5 year old inside my helmet..Talk about parting of the waves, some people were actually looking into the sky thinking a low flying plane was overhead.
Decided to have dinner in York, and found a 'Wetherspoons' 'Postern Gate' where you can ride the bike up the side of the pub.. No cars and free to park on the bike, so you can sit outside at the side of the river, and keep an eye on the bike at the same time while you eat..Very enjoyable afternoon. Wetherspoons food ok, but like most of these type of places these days, all micro wave stuff.
Next time try Oscars mate, not far from the postern gate. Awesome food, homemade and cheap.
Suprised you didn't get a knacking taking the bike down the pedestrian street. I got a ticket doing it on my RS125 many moons ago.
Can you park bke there? Pedestrian zone open to vehicles on business after 4.00pm, and was on business, so no probs.
If you can ride your bike in the pedestrian zones after 4.00pm then you can park outside Oscars. I have seen cars outside so I know you can.
Ask anyone in York about Oscars and they will know it. Its Pub food, but traditional food and massive portions.
Failing that, over the road from the Postern Gate, on the other side of the one way system is a pub called the Mason's arms. Another jem in York, and the food there is awesome. You can leave your bike on the front outside, and sit outside to eat. Portions at the Mason's are Fcuking massive and reasonabley priced too.
I live in York and recommend these 2 place 100%.
All the best,
