2008 Tuono as First Bike?

I may be, but I've been riding street bikes since I was 16 and I'm 53, ride one my motorcycles just about every day of the year and I bet you I could kick your *** on the twisties or on the track. Being safe, has nothing to do with being fast, but being alive has everything with being around to ride another day.

Hahahaaahhaha. A pissing contest.

Sometimes Hawkins you need to find a little humility. THis is one of them occasions. Now, i've never ridden with these boys however i don'tknow if i could beat them on a road or a track. I'm 99%sure these days more than a few of them would kick my arse all over the place, in fact i'd bet that on a track most on here would kick me allover the track and not even break sweat. At times on the road i'd be a bit closer as i'm a bit more insane than some :)

So, what exactly are you basing your opinion on ?

****** crackin responses as usual Aldo:thumbup

Mr Hawkins like Weeksy says dont think you have any right to come on and start blowing your trumpet as to saying you can beat anyone on the road or track. You dont have any idea what like a rider anyone on here is! Assuming your American, now if this is the case then everyone knows you buggers are useless on the twistees if your cages are anything to go by, and i say this from experiencing driving the **** heaps americans call cars they are bloody useless..

Oh and for the record you would likely beat me as im a slow fecker!

:cheers

HAve to agree.

Something you don't mind throwing into the hedge is a better plan.

Both your suggestions are utterly ridiculous mate i'm afraid.

What can you expect ? To wake up with flashing blue lights around you probably.

spot on there weeksy no disrespect but a jap 600 4 cyl would be ideal :yes

...so we're all agreed then...?? :yes

just get a small bike...and sod off... :thumbup

Good Morning Everyone. I am deciding on my first motorcycle and I am torn between the Ducati Streetfighter or a 2008 Tuono R. Can anyone please give me some suggestions as to what my choice should be? Also, any input on what I can expect with this bike would be appreciated. Thank you.

Everything that the members are saying makes sense ,,,
you may consider a Honda XR400/SuzukiDRZ400 or a Honda CRM 250 good reliable cheap to run dual purpose bikes and if you keep them in one piece you would possibly get a good amount of your initial cash outlay back when you upgrade to a Tuono:thumbup

I jumped straight onto a Tuoldo as my first bike after passin my test only 2 years ago. Has a year on that then went out and bought myself a brand spanking Tuono factory. Done around 15,000 miles over those 2 years and 4 track days without a single mishap!!! errrkkk felt really un happy typing that.......touch wood! spit salute etc etc

At the end of the day its down to you as a rider to gauge your own ability and know when you are pushing beyond your capability. For this you have to be alert, bright and zoned in to the bike and road all the time.

I would say however that I road as a teen (RD LC 250cc) and spent years off road on various motorcross/enduro bikes. If you are completely new to motorbikes alltogether then best to learn the mechanics of hard braking, cornering, wheelies ect on something with a little less hp.

Gramps got some sound points though lads....leave the ole bugger alone why don't you.

He's right about first bikes liking the tarmac though....bit like your first car liking lamp posts.

Buy a light one buddy, cause when your sliding down the road with it on yer leg it's not half as bad. A T as a second or even third bike is the way safe way to go.....you know it makes sense :)

I've been riding a year and a half, sprnt my first year on a 600 bandit. Weight 270lb 6ft tall. The bandit had more than enough to get you in to trouble if you were acting like a fud. Had a 600 divvy for a wee while as a put me on, don't buy one, they are ****!

I'll be in the market within the next 3 months for a new bike and have asked members of hte forum their opinion on getting a tuono. They seemed quite ok with a year and a half experience but even though i've covered plenty of miles in and out of town i'm still cautios of buying the tuono.

I most certainly will buy one but would not advise someone that has just passed to get one, you'll end up worm food quicker than you can blink.

Sorry for sounding like a bore but we all start learning to ride as soon as we pass our test and never stop, it's only when you get to a point of outriding the bike you are on should you start looking for a bigger bike IMHO.

Just my 2p.
