Is the maintenance really necessary at 1000 miles? I checked with the shop and it's about $400, and they don't even check that much on the bike. Should I wait until atleast second oil change at 3000miles. Did any of you guys out there had to do this with new bike?

No, you must have the first service done as it includes an oil and filter change and valve clearance check. Make sure this is done. If you don't you could invalidate your warrany

yes legs is right .But it should be 235.00 dollars your dealer is ripping you off .Here in california I had a dealer wanted about that and i called around and found spectrum motorsports will do it for 235.00 witch it should be. don't get ripprd off good luck
