replaced new battery
and serviced .no ecu faults
i go to crank the bike .it cranks over and dies same when warm
if i hold the throttle open full .its starts but missy for a few mins
any possible idea .bike totaly std with 12k on the clock

could be one of the below
vacuum pipes - check all the small hoses are connected under the tank and no signs of damage
fuel pipe - check the fuel pipe isn't nipped anywhere, sometimes happens when the tanks been lifted for service
stator problem, check the voltage at the battery prior to starting - should read around 12.4 volts and again with engine running and should read around 13.7 volts - if its not then the stator could be fried
Good luck

thanks just stripped tank off .carnt evern see a crack in any pipe tbh .main fuel pipes good no horried bends or cracks.engine has a good crank over and starts but just dies and cuts out .once its been running or partly warm .revs pulls clean with no holding or misfires etc .little lumpy on cold start up .no faults in ecu .i wounderd if if was was a possibly faulty coolant sensor (if that adds fuel on cold start on this type of bike ?)

Hang on,...have'nt we been here before?
Is this the same bike that would'nt start, then you found the alarm wiring was faulty?
Is this also the same bike you were trying to wire in a Gen1 Power Commander,...on a Gen2?
And also,..is this the same bike you claimed the alternator had been replaced with a magneto???? Still waiting for the pics of that.

hi thats correct after i had alarm removed (causeing my bike not to start ie immboilzed...new battery magneto and rectifer fitted..bikes been great since ..i go to bike it starts first crank .then runs and dies within a few seconds .any idea if theres any cold start sensor .maybe faulty not giving bike not enoegh fuel on cold starting

do you keep it outside ? If so check for water in the tank . Pull the plugs and check for spark . If only 1 sparking you may have the ecu issue

^^What he said.^^
its kept in a garage tbh and covered up .removed tank.and hts and plugs .not a spot of water in site ...
once warm fires revs pulls great .only find these cold mornings are making it a buggar to start .first crank it fires up .then just splutters and cuts out like theres not enoegh fuel on cold start .

the water isnt visible unless you drain the tank . My tank had about a pint of water sitting in the bottom of it . drained and flushed tank and pump.. refilled with fresh fuel and bang.. runs lovely ! Have done the filler mod to stop it happening again

drained my tank today and added fresh fuel .following morning same fault .
noticed from cold if i hold throttle approx half open it fires and like miss clear miss clear for approx 8 seconds then idiols revs fine .ps what should it idiol be .as mine maybe low .starts fine when engines warm only having this issuise on really cold mornings

ps any idea what controlls cold start for fueling on these .and were its located as maybe a sensor at fault not giving fuel on cold start to make it idiol

have you checked and rechecked your engine earth connections? then there's the brown connector.... worth a look if breaking anyway

I had very similar problem and Tifa as well...ecu was the case, i suggest to swap with a good one and test
