I've tried the search but cant seem to find the answer Im looking for, basically Ive been offered a set of 2006 factory wheels, but I have a 2002 rsvr. I think Im right in saying the 2006 wheels wont fit the earlier model but if I fit the 2002 discs to the 2006 wheels will they fit my bike? Or is it the wheels thats wider and not the disc offset thats different.

Cheers

Alright mate,

It is the wheels that are wider, but they can be made to fit. You need to machine 2.5mm of the calipers where they bolt to the forks, I have done this on my own bike and have done trackdays so no adverse effect. I will post some pics of the calipers later to show the machined face.

Cheers

Mark

How do Mark, cheers, that clears it up for me, only problem with that is I was hoping to use them as a spare set, but obviously if I machine the calipers then my original 02 oz wheels wont fit anymore. Have you got any good race brake pads instock just now?

You could get some 2.5mm spacers for when you change wheels, we have SBS pads in stock, dual carbon would be my recomendation.

Hey Chap, +1 on what Mark said. The other option is to machine the disc mounting face on the front wheel by 2.5mm each side. The rear is a gnats hair wider as well but most are happy just to leave it as is.

Deacs :thumbup

Mark, I'll give you a shout tomorrow about the pads,

Cheers deacs, might just ask around local machine shops tomorrow and see if any of them can machine the wheels, otherwise I guess its machining the calipers and get spacers made up.

One other thing is the guy has another spare front that came off a crashed bike with frontal damage, do you know of anywhere that can xray or inspect the wheel for any cracks etc.

:thumbup what colour are they? I have a set of genI's that I would swap as I'm now runnig a GenII so no machining needed :thumbup

I would be wary using one that has had a whack :dowhat
