Hey guys,

I've just taken the bike out for a spin. No, I set the shift light to around 10k, but it seems that the actual physical limit is also around there as i keep hitting it. It winds round to 12, but can someone let me know where the actual limit is so i can stop hitting it!

Ta,

Anton

Hi rev limit with standard chip is 10500rpm but my bike seems to be slightly less with akro chip & can and is like hitting a brick wall,

i have mine set at 10k as well but have no problems:dunno, couldn't tell you where it cuts in as i have not hit it yet as i change as soon as the light starts flahing

I think the pre magnesium engines had a 500rpm lower rev ceiling (Magnesium = 11k) and it is a hard limiter as you have found.

I would highly recommend not hitting it too often if you can possibly avoid it because it's nature as a hard limiter means it's akin to taking a jack hammer to your valvetrain and on rare occasions it gets ugly. especially on downchanges.

You will find with bikes/cars in general now with the greater processing power of the ecu's that they have soft limiters. As in at 10.5k it hits as a light misfire gradually increasing in intensity as the revs rise to save the engine internals from sudden and violent cut outs.

Thanks for the info mate , my bikes an 02 mille with a hard limiter but ithought it might be the akro chip making it hard as my brother has an 03 mille an his seems very smooth. Any ideas!
