Alright guys im having a problem with my rsv,When moving my bike wont rev beyond 7000rpm however when in neutral or in gear with clutch in it will rev to the redline ?? any ideas why.

Even in the first gear?

Probably the bike just doesnt have enought power.. Something is wrong, big time :D

What is your sprocket size, chain tension oke?

i have tried that, set it 2 9500rpm on da clock but stil no different

Please use english...

Anyway, is it actually hitting a limiter or just refusing to rev past where you are saying? I assume it isnt just the rev counter not working correctly?

rev meters fine, when this happened in last gear the bike read 5000rpm and was doing about 90mph, but wen its not moveing reved fine to max rpm rpm

if it's not a physical limiter which it clearly isn't if it revs ok when not under load then it has to be a lack of power not allowing the bike to pull high revs in higher gears.

that could be either misfire, fueling issue etc etc.
You will have to start checking things as it's unlikely you will get a definitive answer as there are so many possibilities.

if it were me i would look at fueling. Enough pressure ? split hose in tank dropping pressure etc.
Takes a lot more fuel/power to hit 10k in top than it does on the sidestand.

a misfire would be more evident when riding especially on a twin

might want to check that the brakes aren't binding as well - although I think you'd have noticed flames by now if it was that.

I would say fuel, sounds like its starving itself, could just have a bit of crap in the tank or in a fuel line, good clean through, fresh fues and an in line filter... give it a go

Have you done the basics and checked all electrical connectors first?

Start with the battery terminals and then make sure the coil connectors are clean and secure.

Have you pulled the plugs out and checked they are all sparking OK?

Could be a plug breaking down under load, once you've checked and eliminated all the electrics then move on to fuel.

Lastly, what was the last thing you did to it before tis fault developed?

i havn't done anythink yet. i had a crash back in mid november, some plank hit me off. it was ok before this, i have only bin able to get back on the bike recently this is when the fault occured. i had a full exhaust system which i replaced with a stock system.

Could it be the fuelling etc was set up for a free flowing system and is now running rich due to a more restrictive pipe perhaps?

Possible route to investigate, are the plugs sooty? Would seem coincidental that it started after a system change.
