190/50-17 Tomahawk T3(revulcanized/threaded) or Shinko Raven(korean) or an inexpensive 190/55 for my 2000 Mille? I will start using my rear brake again and I like fat tires which last longer for commuting. my tires usually wear a way too much in the middle!! currently I have Pirelli Dragon on the front and with 5% in the middle and 90% on the sides and Strada on the front.
What should I get I can only afford the tires listed above please give me some positive advice and don't bash the poor mans tire choices. :pirate I have complaints about steering at low speeds but I can live with that with a fat tire

Fella, you should never compromise on tyres. It's what keeps you upright. Save a bit more cash and get a pair of decent tyres from either Michelin, Bridgestone, Pirelli or Dunlop. Each manufacturer offers different tyres for touring, road riding or road / track work. Do some research and buy the tyre which best falls into your budget and needs. Michelin Pilot road 2's or Michelin Pilot Power 2CT are excellent tyres, as is Pirelli Diablo's, Dunlop D209 Qualifiers and Bridgestone BT014 or BT016. Another Option to look at is Continental Road Attack or Sport Attack. These may be a slightly cheaper option. Personally i can't believe anyone would even consider fitting a remould tyre to a sports bike. Maybe on some low powered commuter bike or scooter but on a sports bike, you must be mad !

Got to agree with legs i'd never compromise on tires, ive had too many idiots pull out on me to risk the lack of grip when you really need it. You could do a google search for cheap end of line sports/tourer tires or some dealers do cheap 3 packs , 2 rear and 1 front. Just my 2p.

Don't use cheap rubber it would cost more than the difference in price should you have even a miner spill :flip

Mate, if you're that hard up, look on Ebay for some part-worn SuperCorsas or similar being sold on by racers. Might not last so long but at least you'll have quality rubber under you.
Chances are, the first you'll know about how good or bad those cheap tyres are is when you're sliding along on your arse.

What about those tyres that were tested in PB mag by Guy Martin?? I can't for the life of me remeber the name of them but he really rated them and was something like 0.5 secs a lap of a track slower than his best time on Pirelli's!! Someone out there help with the name????? Think they may be Chinese????????

Why don't you buy a set here http://www.fwr.co.uk/

Got to agree with the above plenty of reasonable priced tryes out just got to look for them Avon do a good tyre nowadays at a good price

I think I will go with the Tomahawks, the retreading is done by Vulcanizing the rubber molecules. Kane does stoppies at 150+ with those tires and I do them at 15+ so they should be alright. I got 100 bucks on this so I'll let you guys know how they are. BTW what do they mean when they say "tire Turns in slow"? is that the problem I was having with the square rear diablo on slow turns? or the geometry of Aprilia?

Cant understand the reasoning behind buying a **** tyre :dunno

On a Suzuki Bandit I can understand it but on a V twin Ape FFS.

I feel like giving you some money to go and get a decent pair

Maxxis Tyres, Go for the touring set and you will get good mileage and they are great value for money...

A lot of Crap is talked about Tyres they are very subjective....:biggrin I am just about to add to this Crap....

I love Avon Storms on my Busa but the Pisselli's I have on the Prilly give me nothing and are squared off :rant

Be a little kinder gents, superyellow is from that States and when you ride in a straight line because a vast percentage of the roads are straight in the US and you want maximum smoke for your money when rolling a burnout in a car lot ala US style, put together with being on a tight budget, I think you have your answer why he is looking at these retreads........crazy fool that he is :nana

The tyre turning in slow has more to do with it's profile superyellow. A triangular profile will turn and drop onto it's shoulder, whereas a rounded profile will take a more persistent effort to contine to move onto the shoulder. You are looking at a wider rear too, which will also slow the turn in speed of the tyre. The problem you have with a squared off rear (one too many burnouts and straight roads young man!) is that you have to get passed the squared section before reaching the shoulder of the tyre, which makes smooth entry into a lean angle next to impossible and takes a greater initial effort than you would normally use. It probably feels "stepped" as you do so and then you have to correct by lessening the input once you've breached the square section.

I've only ever ridden on cheap Chinese tyres as a youth on an AR125......12hp of brute force that would spin and smoke the rear. Good fun for 5 minutes, less so when sat on your backside watching your bike taking a trip without you.......now your RSV is putting out 100+bhp in healthy form. Be careful on them sir! Go safe :thumbup

to be honest I can't afford spending lots of money on tyres. the wife hates it :)

When I need new tyres and the wallet is empty I opt for a part worn of a good brand to get me out of the sh*t until I can afford a new set.

Just can't get th eimage out of my head of seeing tyres fall apart on remoulds :lol. Tomakawk have a good following now and rep but not for me new dunlops/bridgestones or a part worn :)
my 2 pence worth

thanks fellas. that kitten is cute btw EEza I think I will be just fine with that tomahawk t3. They make tyres for the aircrafts well my Ape is an aircraft you know. lol I think retreaded tire is better than a bald Diablo Dragon with two plugs on it! lol it smells rubber when I ride it. lol gives me too many fish tails. I haven't popped any wheelies since I fixed the clutch and besides that you know there is no traction!!!! lol you are right about the burn outs Cat I have been using this technique called sublimation which is accepted by the society, I burn rubber whenever I get pissed at something. :) and trust me it takes a lot to piss me off. :) I ride my baby in the rain with a T-shirt cuz I'm hot! I rode my bike without gloves in the rain cuz someone stole them. I still made it to work with frozen fingers. and right before my finals I quit because of this jerk at my work who called me a liar and I believe that I'll be alright on an inexpensive tire... I believe that Lord will take care of me either with a brand new Pirelli or with Vulcanized Pirelli rubber on Pirelli Carcass. I think that I'll be just fine cuz. All things are possible for me my friends. :) cuz I believe! Mark 9:23 cheers
