180 or 190

Rossi who? lol. no your probably right, i have just never used a 190 on any bike, just curious, 30/30 is what i use also, only for the track my bike, got fed up of road riding, i have had more fun on the track than the last twenty years on the roads, with the added bonus of now having a clean license for the first time in a long time, its my first twin aswell and have to say i didnt realise what i was missing, not the fastest thing out there but what a noise, twin akra's all the way.

30/30 is only a ballpark figure, some track tyres now run as low as 23 psi, S/C pros run 30.5 front and 27.5 rear, it is worth getting tyre pressures right for wear and grip and handling, don't just go 30/30 for everything mate:thumbup

Wee Jimmy's bang on here , 27.5 and 30.5 cold pressures for most treaded tyres and the trackday slicks ( not bridgestone )

if your running tyre warmers you are looking for 34 hot pressure front and 32 hot pressure rear. Check them first thing as soon as you get back in the garage , your looking for the same pressure.

if your not running warmers still go for 27.5 and 30.5 , they'll feel like **** till you warm them up , but then they'll be fine.

if in doubt ................. ask the tyre guy at the circuit , he knows more than us

there is gonna be a tyre and suspension technician there so i will pester them, thanks for the advice. What tyre do you run, (make), i will be runnin pirelli slicks as we are getting a deal between five of us, hence the original question about size, we would all have the same size if i went with 190, thats what my mates run on there boring il4,s.

Hi Ed, how ya shakin dude:thumbup

Dunc, i was running Racetec slicks medium rear soft front and wrecked them after a day and a half, got the tyre guy to fit pirelli superbike slicks in same compounds, same tyre pressures for both tyres.

Metzeler and pirelli = same compounds as made by same company.

Either set them completely cold or completely hot, hot is more consistent as the air temperature does not have a bearing on it them then:thumbup

I'd go for the 180 pirelli sc3 rear and sc1 front or metzler ( same ish) , I've been using these and found no problems , will be trying out the bridgestones later in the year, so cant comment
I'm sure your tyre man will supply you a 180 even if your mates go for the 190

I will start with what i am used to and go from there, i am sure there will be plenty of advice at hand, suppose i will need to get to grips with the circuit first. Still concerned about top end too, i will have fun whatever. Hopefully 3 days out there will do me some good.

i have asked the tyre guy, he said its ok, he is gonna give us a choice and what we use is what we pay for when we get back, he looks after the tyres for my mates who race with derbypheonix club so good relationship, SMD tyres in Leigh.:thumbup

Metzeler is half a compound harder but like we'd notice
I would run the sc3 or k3 rear as its quite abrasive track( grippy), think badger's medium was too soft ( mind you the little bloke would have shagged the harder compound as well , he's the only bloke I've seen dragging his exhaust mid corner on a mille):pirate

I got pulled up at Rockingham by the TDO and accused of cutting up the track:roll

Dunc, let me know how close you get to 1.52 secs a lap.

Hi Badger, so is that a good time round there? I can get round Oulton's full circuit in 1.55, not mega quick but only started on track last year, getting more confident every time i go out, my mates get round oulton in low 1.40's, racers though, tricked up gixers and R1's.
