16t sprocket on a Tuoldo racing?

Morning all. Right, just wondering if anyone has fitted a 16t front sprocket to a Tuoldo racing? Im just wondering with close ratio box is the modification as worthwhile? Also being a tight b@stard does your bike use much fuel?

Or should i just go staright for a 15t ?

Bay have you got a 16t on yours?

Also if anyones got a carbon seat cowl for sale let me know please. Aprilia want 200 plus the dreaded! And extra for the yellow decal!

Does the racing have different ratios to the normal Tuoldo then?

Standard on Tuoldos is a 17, most (including myself) have gone 1 down to a 16.

Acceleration is pretty brutal (mine is 2 up on the rear also). However, mine goes further than Bays to a tank (his has standard sprockets). I tend to short shift a lot more than him though, and I actually use 6th.

I normally get 120-130 to a tank, and I don't even fill up sat on the bike.

I've no idea what I've got on mine to be honest. I'm going to a 15 42 though when I eventually change. As for what Stix said went out with him on sat and got 120 miles out of the tank then filled up just in case. Light hadn't come on then either so was good for a few extra miles. He's prob getting more mpg though as he's got the standard exhaust and standard chip in. Ive got the racing chip in which might make it use a bit more fuel. Ps Stix lad have u ordered a new EPROM chip to go with your new exhaust?

No mate wasn't aware that I had to change the chip just due to swapping the can?

U really are a mechanical numpty aren't u ;)

If ure running it with baffle out you'll need an EPROM apparently. Mind u I'm a mechanical numpty as well but this is what I've been led to believe. On gen 2's they have map 1 and map 2 but on the Gen 1's we have to swap the chips in the management system. To change the chip you'll have to take the 2 wheels off, take the engine out of the frame, undo the box holding the management system and change the chip.

Should be easy enough to do in an afternoon

Nobhead :)

Just been researching Gen1 chips and one of the peeps who sells them (Dr Rossi) said if it runs ok with standard chip then just leave it alone - seems fair advice to me!

According to what info i can find, the internal ratios are different in the gearbox on a racing.

On a proper blast, the light comes on a round 80 miles on mine, and my last Tulodo too! Althoughth on the motorway i got 140 miles sitting at 75/80 which i was quite impressed with.

Also was reading about deristricting the airbox? does this apply to my model? Ill open it up and have a look see if this snorkel thingy is there, just thought id ask before i get the tools out.

Bache I've done nothing to mine since I had it apart from clean it 3 or 4 times (its covered in ACF50 and Scottoiler though) oil the chain, top up the oil and change the tyres etc. Its due for a service soon though and I'll ge them to check everything while they do it. I've not been tempted to count how many teeth are on the sprockets or owt. The rear looks fine its nice and clean and plenty of life left in it. The bikes fast enough and thats all I'm concerned about really.

I'll make some mods over the years I have it undoubtably but until things need replacing I'm quite happy with how it rides and accelerates as it is. It might very well have had the sprockets done ;)

Unless theres a quick way to find out how many teeth are on there I'm not tempted to sit down and count them.

I think the number of teeth is stamped on the rear sprocket somewhere.

17/42 the Tuoldo's aren't they ??? Try the bike with out changing the chip when you swap can Stix lad, might be orreet.

Yes cheers Nob will do :thumbup

I know Tuoldos have 17 front as standard, not sure what standard rear is? What I do know is that the bike accelerates far faster than I need it to 99% of the time with 1 tooth down front & 2 up rear.

The Racing does have closer ratio gearbox than the other Tuoldo's, but will still benefit from lowering the overall gearing.
On Tuoldo's stock sprockets are as Nob says 17/42.
If you want to drop to 16/42 it's good, 16/44 (or 15/42) is better still.

Tuoldos DO come with 2 maps. Map 2 is accessed by cutting the blue/green wire on the eprom when derestricting the engine. It will run with most makes of race can just fine on Map 2, it will run better with a custom mapped chip - if you want one for sensible money contact Gabro over on AF1, his are well regarded.

fitted an rsv evo titanium can on my tuoldo, runs ace on standard chip, seems to have more power throughout the whole rev range (and a lot fugin louder)

id see how it runs before spending more money

Might try a 15 t then. I had gixxer thou k5 a few years ago and that had 1 down on the front , that made it a bit hectic and jumpy, put it back standard and was all good. Also had a 99 r1 which was 1 up 1 down, all it wanted to do was wheelie ha ha!

Hoping the tuoldo will have that bit more grunt being higher up the rev range when in 3rd, sometimes in tighter corners feels like a bit of turbo lag lol! Or maybe i should get better at selecting the correct gear :rolleyes

B@stard, do you know if Tuoldo racings have this snorkel thingy in the airbox ?

AFIAK all Tuoldo's left the Factory restricted to meet some country's power limitations.

It's a 5 minute job to check - pop the seat off, undo the two bolts at the front of the tank and look under the air filter - if there is a ~1" tube in the inlet remove it and the job is done. TBH these bikes are 8 years old now, I doubt there are any left that haven't been de-restricted already.
