Bought a black and red '04 fighter with 7k on the clock after testing most of the Jap nakeds and not being moved at all. This one is different though...doesn't seem to be as restricted as most of the Jap nakeds as I found out when she reared up in second without trying on my second ride...:thumbup. Also makes a proper noise even with standard pipe.

Got to get a double bubble screen though, any views on what works and where to buy?

Also, I see the standard fit rear tyre size is a 180 with the option of fitting a 190. Mine has a 190 fitted. Anyone changed to a 180 and noticed a difference in steering?

Really like this bike, serious accelaration, firm but supple suspension, awesome brakes and very comfortable too. Roll on summer!:cheers

Welcome and enjoy your tuono. My T had a 190/55 and when I replaced I put a 190/50 on,and I noticed it slower tipping in so it will be 55 series from now on

i have changed to a 180 on my factory. its a personal thing, i prefer the slightly quicker turn in speeds and the bike feels more secure to me when cranked right over. i also did this on the rsv i had before the tuono and the gsx1400 i had before that etc etc.

Thanks for your feedback guys. I think I will switch to a 180 once my tyre needs replacing for quicker steering. I can't see what real world benefit a 190 would bring?

Today before a ride I checked the compression damping settings. It was wound down all the way on the front...is this normal? I set it on two turns which seemed like half way. I also sofened up the rear shock by one turn. On the ride afterwards I felt very confident onthe bike and has a really good ride. Don't know if it was down to the changes or maybe all in my head...! Or maybe just getting used to the bike. Still loving it and doesn't feel like I'm going to get bored anytime soon.

Go and do yourself a favour and get yourself a copy of Andrew Trevitt's "Sportbike Suspension Tuning". This will teach you all you need to know to set up your suspension. Priceless info for a sports rider.

Cheers

Try the screen from PUIG, you can import them from the US or get them on EBAY from Germany for about £60. Pictured below on my Factory.

Great quality, bolts straight on, keeps wind off nicely and looks cool with a dark tint - what do you think?

Hi twotwins and welcome. I fitted a Skidmarx double bubble to my '03 Tuono and it gave me comfortable 100mph cruising. I am only 5ft 9ins though!

Cheers for advice, turns out getting hold of a double bubble screen for an 04 model is not so easy... I first tried MRA as I've used them before but cant find a listing for my bike, then tried Puig, no listed for 1st gen Tuono, finally ordered light tint Zero Gravity only to be told they don't make one (for the UK?) The Company I ordered from have offered to ask Zero Gravity to make one specially for me (!) but say it will take 6 weeks to arrive. They can sell me a dark smoke one but I'm not sure if I want it totally dark.

So...I might take your advice Streetbike and go for the Skidmarx. I'm about 5'10 so maybe it will work for me too.

Nice pics RBD.....
My screen is an airblade D/B item...cheap at 45 quid, good quality fit and looks good too
M&P stock a few screens for the T maybe worth havin a look...

Welcome!:cheers

I also had a 190 fitted. Kept it. Don't forget the looks good effect!!! LOL
I personally find the turn in on a 190 is better than a 180. Some like it better (me included) for it's calming effect, especially with those huge bars giving you the leverage. If you sneeze too hard that thing lets you know!

Hi chunkylad, thanks for your recommendation of Andrew Trevitts's suspension book. I read the write up and ordered one immediately and hopefully it will arrive this week.:flip
