Hi all, just recently acquired a 2009 Tuono 1000RR from my brother in Cape Town. I live in Port Elizabeth SA and have moved from a 1983 MG 850 Le Mans MK3.
I really enjoy the Aprilia, lots of power compared to the MG. The Tuono has been worked by my brother using a PC3 and many hours of work recording the TP and fuel ratio under lots of riding conditions in order to get the ratios optimised. Also the exhausts have been modified, removed the cat and replaced inerds with 48mm perf pipe and plent of glass.

Cheers,

Raoul Gomes

Welcome Flukeman, nice looking bike.

Has all that optimisation improved the bike ?

Hi Olaf,

The fuel consumption, although bad compared to the MG has improved to about 16km/l. When new it was doing about 10 - 12km/l. On a recent trip to Jbay i measured about 19km/l, granted this was at no more than 100km/h (no fun there). We have also changed both the sprockets, two up on the back and one down on the front. The bike now lifts the front wheel off the groung in second as she gets to max rpm. Fun, fun, fun.

I uploaded a pic of the bike but it looks like only half is displayed. Lets try again.

Thanks for the welcome guys. Just been on a trip down the coast last week. Had a slight spill into a tightening up corner went straight and ended up dropping her although slow. Managed to break the four tabs on the air duct. Does anyone know where i can get one at a good price?
