I was off to meet some friends for a day out this morning when I felt a bang and some white smoke.The oh Christ moment was alleviated when I got her stopped safely and discovered oil was pissing from a hole in the sump next to the drain plug.
I went to see what I had hit to find chunks of rusty old cast iron on the road .I removed the ones I could find from the road while I waited for the RAC to get me home. I am lucky as my son was on the back and it could all have ended much worse for us but still pissed off for these cowboys dropping crap from their vehicles without any comeback.I will post some pics when I get them off my phone.
As an aside I was humbled and gratified by the number of bikes that stopped to see if we needed any help.
The way I look at it is we all walked away and the bike isn't that badly damaged .Onwards and upwards.

At least your both ok... hope its a quick cheap fix for you...

tough to hear man but at least you were able to walk away and more importantly your boy was as well! also good to hear others stoping for assistance!
 
Bad news bud, but nice to see you look at the bright side of things. I would have been like a bear with a sore head for months.
 
that's carp, :thumbdown but glad all people is ok. If it helps I had similar in a car on the motorway, dented passenger side foot well, dented the lower swing arm and threw all the plastic undertray bits from the car!

And it is nice that people asked if you were ok :thumbup
 
A bummer that yer hit the road crap and damaged yer machine but glad nothing more serious.
 
That sucks. Glad it wasn't that bad. I ran over a pair of power company wire cutters once and sent the fker right into the belly pan. Thankfully the damage was just cosmetic (it just missed the vital organs) and I was able to yank it out and go. Still pisses me off that people drop crap in the road.
 
Speaking of which, last week on our run down the Jurassic Coast there wiz a lump hammer right in the middle of a corner,,,,,,,,abod missed it but when we were talking aboot it some of the guys hadn't even see it. :eek:
 
Man, that's pretty gruesome! Feel for you, I know I'd be gutted if it happened to me. Good to hear you and your boy are okay.

... and nice work picking up the remainder of the crap in the road.
 
You see a lot of that sorta thing lying in the road around here.Usually the fallout from some 'metal recycling' truck.Just today,I had to avoid a kiddies trike in the middle of the A47.
