Right Yev, you've got me thinking about what I will and won't do and i'll mention later later... for the moment please note that today I decided to get acquainted with the bike and get my fingers greasy... I have replaced all 4 sparkies using the same standard NGK's that it had in it.. which tbh looked like they have done more than 1000 miles (its only about 1000-1500 miles since its 4500 mile service. So I wonder if plugs were missed.
Anyway I followed instructions to raise the tank, remove the top of the airbox, removed the filter and then removed the entire Air box and the funny snorkel thingy (air inlet boot ?) at the front and gave them all a good clean and degrease. The air inlet boot seemed to be thing plastic in the main and then the arms were a bit rubbery.. is that the standard Tuono jobbie ?
After changing the plugs I paid more attention to the air filter and the airbox and I looked out for restricters... infact I couldnt find one even when using some of the guides such as
2000 Aprilia Falco Derestriction I was looking for some kind of ring or grommet that reduces the size of the hole to an inch ish... the hole is prob 2 inches plus (see photo attached) Also, at the bottom of the airbox where the filter sits there isnt much there at all so wonder if it perhaps even has a longer than normal airfilter.... as to me it looks like the bad boy previous owner has already messed around with it. Ive added some photos of the airbox and filter etc..... can you and other readers take a look and let me know if this looks standard or looks like it has been fettled with already.. i reckon the latter !?!?
Also, I had a quick look at the wiring at the back of the electric cpu or whatever it is that is between the front and rear seats. I note that there is a blue wire that has been cut and taped up both ends.. is this normal. Is this the wire that some people cut or modify ?
In terms of performance mods.. I think for now I will leave the MTC can on it, remove the rectrictor from the air box (although Im sure this is already done.. please confirm) and then get Gabro or Force Aprilia do me a chip based on these two mods. I may consider the collector in the future but for now ive spent enough on bike, holiday and blasted house so need to look after the pennies.
So, after all this waffling..here are the photo's... please take a look and let me know what you think... comments and advice massively appreciated.
