Hello all, Im looking at getting a used Tuono but need some advice on what model so I dont get bumped when buying. Spending about £3,500 - £4,000 and have seen some models listed as 1000R and others as Fighter (also the Factory with all the bling on). Are the R & Fighter essentially the same model but different years or is there a difference with them ?

No the fighter was just the name for the first couple of years I think. Mine is a Fighter - 2003.

They are holding their value well, don't seem to go below £3000. It was the same last year too. With £4k you should be able to get a newer shape R I would have thought though?

I picked up a gen 2, 07 plate T, 5,000 miles with extras for £4000. Some bargains out there in this current climate and as was said they do hold there price well.

2003 bikes were known as the Fighter.2004 onwards they became the 1000R.Some paint/graphic changes, but basically the same bike.

... ****** **** turpin !!!!

That was a good buy you had there bet he walked away mincing & reaching for a pot of cream & scratching his head. But you should get a decent gen II for that sort of money. I thinkl the newer ones don't have some of the problems the earlier ones had. There's threads knocking about the place on the History etc KB did a reall extensive right up on the history & what to look out forn that was very informative & interesting. If you could find a gen 1 racing that would be something special though.

what ye really want is a duc fechter drippin in goodies,,,an i ken whaur theres a minter than mint wan sittin,,,,go on, get in there afore garry does...

I tried an early factory T first and was well impressed, this was what made me decide on my first Italian bike. You can deffinately feel the quality suspension with the Ohlins but I wasn't so keen on the looks of the older model or the finish on some of the carbon fibre, it may have just been that particular bike though. If you can afford the newer factory that would deffinately be the one to go for (I would love one!).

Havnt seen the bike in the flesh yet but have been sent a few extra pics. Ian who I spoke to was happy to negotiate without the usual dealer ******** and I think im getting a canny deal. He is delivering it for £60 and said if im not happy he will take it back. Never bought a bike without seeing it first but I cant loose with this as it would have cost me the £50 deposit that I gave him in getting there and back. Roll on the Isle of Man trip in April.

Heds thats a fine looking bike I must say. Get rid of that exhaust straight away for an aftermarket slip on one which is about quarter of the size. You can get decent ones on ebay for just over £100. I think Stix has a Hawk one which is Satin Black and looks good. Nealry blew my ear off when I bent down to check the oil on mine and he started his up with my head next to his exhaust. Even had my helemt on and he's kept his baffle in.

I've got a similar looking pipe as Stix on mine from MTC (Max Torque Cans). Rang the guy up and he asked what length I wanted it and made it to my specification. Even gace advice not to go to short so as to make bike run ok. Never had any problems with it and really good company to buy from. Think that was just over £100 as well.

Both lot lighter than the original and sound lot sweeter. Would look cool on your jet black un

Ive looked at a few for a while now and it looks a good one. Lots for sale with race pipes but you are asking for trouble at MOT time, my mate sold an RSV a few years ago and he still has the Arrow pipe and chip which will be heading in my direction very soon. Cany wait to get on it and get some miles under my belt.
