Right, took delivery of the bike today and put 60 odd miles on it...here's my honest views....

power - phoenominal! Handling - Tremendous! Sound - Goose bumpingly awesome! Seat - Fekking uncomfortable! Slow riding in town behind grannies - Irritatingly aching! Fule injection mapping at slow speeds - Lumpy and rough as all injection bikes I've ridden.

When warm the bike rattles like a bag of spanners.

I feel this is the sort of bike that will probably grow on me as I put more miles on it, jury's still out!

I'm a picky bugger at the best of times and am used to a Fazer 1000 and Pan Euro 1100.

Opinions invited..

its italian !!
if you want smooth buy a jap (boring !!)
i always say you buy jap with the head
but you buy italian with your heart
you want buy anything better that puts a big smile on ya face when you ride it

When I first got my Gen 2 slow speed round town was a real pain - at first service fitted a 15 tooth front sprocket and got Griff to set up the throttle bodies and it was like riding a different bike. Best combination of looks, riding position, handling and power on the road for me.

I have found the seat to be really comfortable - usually go out for 150 to 350 miles at a time

Recent 4200 km trip on my baby.... The seat got a little iffy on the last couple of days. They do grow on you. I've had my share of boojums and am dealing with an electrical one right now. I still love her with all my heart. Best bike I have EVER had. And that includes my namesake shovel. Shopping now for another daily rider so that I can keep Andiamo for special occasions. And yes, it will be another Tuono.

As per my video i tested the z1000sx at the same time .. (you commented on it on youtube) and the z was fast comfortable and handled ok . brakes were good and technically it was a great bike . If you have a fazer now you would probably love it . But i found it boring and totally devoid of character .

The rsv4 on the other hand blew my mind ... tried to kill me and all i did was laugh like a little girl . time spent on the z - 20 mins . time on the tuono 90 mins .. yes its abit noisy but had no issues in town (alot beter than my old tuono) and even the riding postion was fine (i have dodgy wrists) but agreed the seat is abit of a plank but saying that i had no discomfort after 90 mins .

Your on about the V4 you talked about buying earlier aren't you mate ???

I thought the V4 was brilliant at everything, especially town centre speeds with 30mph in 5th doable. I thought the seat was a 100% improvement on the gen2,,,,o **** it here's the thread,

It was actually your review that made me finally think, sod it, let's go! Nice review. I've always had a problem with fuel injection mapping and lumpyness but noticed this evening the chain is too loose so may be partly down to that slapping. I liked the balancing the carb bodies and "It's not a Jap bike" comment too.

I think I just need to run it in and stop expecting Pan Euro silky smoothness at town speeds like I get when instructing, maybe man up a little! lol

sorry i wasnt 100% clear .. i tested the z1000sx and tuono v4 back to back on friday . and stuck up a little vid on youtube of the tuono and roadcraft commented on it .. wasnt a vid of the sx

Yeah, that's me, my gearshift lever was too high today so I dropped in line with my foot angle. I'm finding your opinions very helpful here!

Roadcraft I've a Gen 1 with injection and it's as smoothe as the gsxr I used to own. Plus the gsxr felt like a bag of spanners compared to this one. Mine actually feels well made

Roadcraft: I had a Fazer thou gen II, which I chopped in for the Tuono, albeit the V2, not the V4....

I quite enjoyed the Fazer, but I`d been away from biking for a while, so when I first bought it, it felt the mutts.........but once I`d owned it a little while, it started to feel a bit characterless, and if I`m honest, a bit boring; it was just too "nice".

With that in mind, I started to look around for summat else that would float my boat, with the wife cursing me for the fact that I`d only had the Fazer for 3 months......

Anyway, not one to let the wife put me off :)lol), I called in on an old mate of mine who works at a dealer, and he just let me out straight away firstly on an MV Augusta Brutale 900, and then a Kwak 1000SX immediately afterwards.

The Brutale was very nice; a bit of a work of art really, but just didn`t hit the spot for me, and the Kwak.......well what a disappointment ! Been a long time since I`ve ridden a big Kwak (my last one was a ZX9R), and they were always "rip yer head off" bikes, but this SX was a bloody pussycat ! Very smooth, no, make that VERY smooth, and felt like a Honda, but not in a good way. Don`t get me wrong, a nice bike, but I didn`t like it as much as the Yam, let alone actually swap the Yam for it.

Anyway, that done, I immediately rode across town (2 towns actually) to another dealer, just to see what they had in, and when I pulled up outside, there was what was to become my Tuono. I liked it straight away, and on going inside, they offered me a go on it, probably more as a hopeful punt on their part than anything else, as it was their demo, but whatever...........it worked !! I`m not joking, I`d not gone more than a couple of hundred yards and I knew I wanted it; the torque (oh that creamy, creamy torque), the soulful sound, the "proper" sportsbike handling, the (front of course) braking, and the looks, ALL did it for me straight away.

They must`ve laughed their bollox off back at the dealers, coz I couldn`t wait to sign on the dotted line.

In short....................I LOVE MY TUONO !!!!!!!!! What a bike !! :roost

What worries me is

My cb1000r is just so good. The injection is smooth, the bikes easy to ride, it feels nice and light, it goes like stink and i think it looks the mutz nutz cause its designed in italy.
The tuono has character or is that a way of describing its imperfections.

With the honda you get italian styling and jap reliability. I just started to think about a change but as usual its easy to forget how good what you have is.
Reading on this site just concerns me, comments like, when it lets you down, and it will, although i`m drawn to a v twin for a change just dont want it to be a rose tinted glasses moment.

its a bit like a scooby doo or evo versus a tvr.
the tvr has character but all the hassle. just for the record i have a a reliant scimitar for moments of character so i know all about those.... lol

Gsexr I love my bike. Like above as soon as I rode it knew i wanted it. Part ex'd a reliable BMW for it but on here people always post about their problems for help. It's a forum. No one posts mine started no problem. I've had my bike a year an a half. Yes the alarm drains the battery but I might get it disconnected although I generally keep it on an optimate. It starts first time rides like a dream (no lumpiness at all) feels solid as a rock. It's inspired confidence in me I never had on any other bike and made me a better rider. It's never broken down on me and I'm getting it serviced on the 18th by griff and Hopefully may the reliability continue like everything else. I've had trouble with cars. They're mechanical so one day something is bound to fail. Ps it's the only bike I've not wanted to change

Dont get me wrong i am on here cause i do fancy a tuono i`m just not sure if i want to swap the honda for it and that could be my loss.

You have nothing to fear.....the Italian Stallion will make you grin like a self-abusing ape.....

Only way to resolve this one, bud, is to get a test-ride on one somewhere.........

If it hasn`t "got" you within the first few hundred yards, then it aint for you. Honestly, with this bike you WILL know it straight away.
