G'Day guys,
Just bought the Red Tuono. I bought the black one new in 05 and wrote it off 4 days later. Broken ribs blood in lungs etc. etc.
Hoping for more luck this time.
Any advice on maintenance would be appreciated.
What should I check on the new bike before I set off on a trip?
What is likely to need inspection at 30,000km?

Cheers,
John

Welcome m8y

Nothing special for taking her on trips as such but most people here will tell you to make sure the battery is in good condition and you keep her on a optimate as much as possible

Thought I had a non starter yesterday and I'd had it on optimate and ridden down the mile or so to meet Aka Gilo for a quick ride out Dynamo. Sat there in Abergavenny bus station clicked the alarm off waited for it to go through set up pressed the started and bloody nothing. Hmmmmm switch it off try again, still nothing. Hmmmmm is the kill switch depressed. Nope. Bloody Italian machinery with their little quips. Knock it off press alarm to off depress starter and bloody nothing. "Giles I can't here the fuel pump going can you". Try again. Nothing. Looks like I might have to call the AA. One more go take it off side stand and roll it back and damn its in 1st gear. No wonder it wouldn't start.

I know for certain that when I pulled up I clicked it into neutral as I always do so how did it get into 1st I want to know. Anyway at least there wasn't much wrong with it apart from its rider being such a *******. Normally I usually get on deress the cluch and ride away but was trying to show Gilo my new exhaust and how it sounded while off the bike.

brakes!

Welcome R, better luck this time round.

bay yer a fud for sure, sometimes when I put the side stand down I can nudge it into first maybe thats whit yer did. ???

I'm pretty careful not to do that though aldo but maybe I just didn't put it into neutral when I parked up. Always pull clutch in when I put stand down as its so near the gear lever. Anyway luckily nothing wrong with the bike which is the main so still hassle free riding.

"What should I check on the new bike before I set off on a trip?"

Steering lock off

Disc lock removed

Tyres warm

Brakes work (not the fookin back one obviously)

Sober

Not sleep riding

Not icy / snowy / floody

Facing right way

Seriously dude ... gutted for your loss. There is an epic clip around of a guy throwing a brand new GSXR up the road 30m from dealership but I assume (and hope) your demise was as a result of another parties kuntamongoness?

I was too busted up to go looking for the cause, but my mates said you could see where the peg had dug in, in the middle of a big slippery diesel slick. In other words it had just fallen on its side and slid through the guard rail, with me after it.
Anyhow, survived to fight another day.
Cheers

Everytime I take the rsv or tuono out of the garage and turn the key I get nothing

I should make all the checks first but I dont but then I know its either stand up and out of gear or main switch off

The problem would be once all the checks are done and still nothing happens

Which does happen sometimes on my rsv for some reason, but try the button again and off she goes, weird or what?

Welcome tae the fray. I had a similar experience to yours involving a Buell and a deer. The T is a brilliant bike for those of us that don't do the supersport position very well any more. And we can still school the kids on said supersports... heh heh heh....
