Chinese rearsets? Or any Gilles for sale?!

I know it's a big risk asking about Chinese wares on my first post, especially being in the uk, where no one uses anything other than the AP or Gilles items!

BUT I'm desperate to get some rearsets on my 08 RSVR, firstly to relocate the rear brake master cylinder, and secondly to provide a shift rod for a quickshifter to be attached and added on to my PCIII USB.

I have seen the posts on other forums about the "danmoto" sets, and heard the metal is too soft for the purpose, so I'm not keen on them.

Whilst trawling eBay for used Gilles sets, I found these: http://bit.ly/17Qc332

Now is it just me or do they look identical to the AP (aprilia performance) rearsets?!

I also know nothing about machining, or if the metal they use (I have emailed them to ask what metal grade).

Has anyone had any experience with these in particular?

Or alternatively does anyone want to sell me some Gilles Rearsets for a Gen2 RSVR?!

Many thanks,

After an expensive few days, I decided to give the Chinese sets a try, given that they are £100 cheaper than the nearest western equivalent. I figured they only have to do for now, one day I will have it all exactly how I want it, when more important things aren't requiring my finance!

I'm wary that the rearsets will not include the required brake light switch to mount on the end of the Master Cylinder, so after a quick call to Griff, and finding the pleasant surprise that he was cheaper than anything online! I received yesterday the correct switch to convert. Many thanks to Aprilia Performance for advice.

Also decided to try the Cordona Quick shifter from www.Moto46.com, it comes with it's own universal shift rod & should plug straight into my Power Commander 3 USB, having seen the Dynojet shifters I'm looking forward to seeing how it compares.

Managed to speak to Dynojet and get all the relevant software sent in the post too, hopefully including the Quick shift enable disk! And who knows, maybe even some free stickers! Haha. :p

Regards

I'm very interested in this as well. So, you got the Chinese rearsets that lacked the brake light switch and that switch was something that Griff was able to provide to you at a low cost? Or did you buy the AP Rearsets from Griff that he has on his website?

The hydraulic brake light switch was provided by griff as a single item, this will be required regardless of the make of rearsets I believe, as all the sets that relocate the master cylinder will make the original switch redundant?

Ok. So this switch, where would it be attached? Should the new rearset have a specific place to attach the switch to? Do these Chinese rearsets have such a position or would I have to fabricate something like that on my own?

Nope....not a chance mate.
They'll fit the GenII frame rsvr/tuono. Should be ok on a rsv4/Tuono v4 too, but you may need to arse about a bit to get them on.

Shame really, they're a snip at that price....about £120 under normal selling price.
