Hello all,

New to this forum today,

A Few years ago I had a great idea... I'd done all the big bikes, got bored and decided I liked the 2000 R1, but liked the mille engine more.

Its taken some time, but now they are merged .... The bike now runs and rides, it did 3 days in portimao race circuit recently and it performed really well.

I appreciate there might be some purists out there, who might beg the question why, but it was just a bit of fun and it works really well.

Just need a little help from the experts if anyone is willing to help please.

1 - the open Air carbon Airbox mod has been done, however, there is a little O-ring on the top of the throttle body. What is it and does it need to have a matching hole in the carbon plate ?

2 - I am running a pc3 usb - With a stock ECU, but the blue wire is cut does this matter ?

Its due to be dyno'd shortly because everything is non standard and its running one can per cylinder straight through, no link pipes at all so i'll post the results up for all to see.

thanks for any help any member can provide.

Ha ha mad ad a box of frogs..love it....as for your questions

Cut wire brings in another map but you have a pc3 that overrides the fuelling....only think to enhance this is a chip with altered ignition tables .

As for the o ring can't place it in my head and I had mine apart the other day

You might gain something with a link pipe..akra 's etc have link pipes on their dual systems and they spend a load on r&d

thanks for the feedback peeps,

Yeah its a wild idea, in fact I think I have a picture of it at Weston bike night in its new skin.. i'll try and find it, the full thread can be read here if you want see what it took.

Katchs 2011 /12 Project - RSV Mille V twin powered R1

The O-ring I an looking at understanding is this one - number 13. My carbon plate sits on top of this and seals, but there no hole for it to flow air or allow it to breath.

The bike is being dyno'd and I don't want it to ruin the tuning maps if its detrimental that it should be able to breath or blanked off . Theres no clear reference about it or what it does.

The exhaust is literally a straight through one can per cylinder at the moment and sounds outrageous.

Very different, I like people who think outside the box, well done.

As for the small O ring yes you need to drill a small hole for it, it is a small breather hole.

Hi Tash,

Thanks for your help,

about the O-ring will do that tonight.

Its been a bit of a labour intensive job with welding, powder coating and trying to make things fit, but its damn good fun !

I'm pleasantly surprised by the positive remarks guys thanks !!

I'm Yamaha throughout my bike history, bought and sold 7 R1's, in between each one I tried a different bike and reverted back to what I know.. pretty close to 30- 35 bikes in the passed 5 years.

I then had a Mille... and well it was superb fun, but as far as handling goes I hated the rsvr 2001 bike, ohlins and trick bits did nothing for it as a road bike, even after 10 weeks playing with suspension and alternatives I just didn't like it. As a track bike it was amazing fun.

On the flip of that I loved the engine, the sound and gearbox was sublime. I'd freely admit Yamaha are crap at gearboxes.

Had the idea years ago, but only recently got lucky with an owner of a bike with alarm issues and he sold it to me for £1k.

I took it stripped and kept everything I thought i'd need. Sold the bits and trick wheels to fund an R1 rolling chassis.

The rest was just patience and fettling designing a safe engine mounting scheme and getting things made like the Calliper bracket that mounts to an R1 swing arm, but holds the calliper in the right place for the 05 mille wheel and its disc bolts for the speed sensor.

Got it insured with all mods declared and did 3 days in portimao trackdays with No Limits, and about 350 road miles since.

Really looking forward to seeing Dyno results though, anyone know what it should make ?
