Figured I'd start a new thread to say hi.
My first Aprilia was an 04 plate 2003 model Mille;

Lovely bike but not the best for my commute. It was sold and replaced with a Yamaha Thundercat.

Commuting came to an end and I took up Greenlaning, a few WR250F's later and I decided it was time for another road bike.
I'd always wanted to try a 1000cc inline 4 and I found this cheap;

Then this happened;

Which was wonderful but my job started to look a bit shaky, with credit cards to pay and redundancy looming the R1 was sold.

Fast forward 6 months. Jobs secure company was sold and new owners changed my contract to extend my notice period to 3 months.
A new bike was discussed with my wife but with the babies arrival imminent, resistance was fierce.
So the old motto came to the forth. "It's easier to seek forgiveness than gain permission"
This is currently living in my neighbours garage;

Nice bike Claude, also looks like a good street with original beetle lurking along with Evo V111 in the background

Thanks but its not my street, they are the sellers pics.... Back when the bike was clean :(

Hey claude

So how do you find gen2 vs gen1???? Always wanted to try a gen2

You know what? I don't know yet.
I've only been out once and I headed down the road and up to a roundabout and spotted my wife waiting to join the roundabout, I swear we stared straight at each other! Well that kind of wrecked my first ride as I just headed straight home preparing myself for the ensuing argument as I knew she'd have seen my car at home and me not in the house.
Thankfully her mind musta been elsewhere as she didn't clock my car. Result!
All I know so far is;
My definition of 'immaculate' and the sellers differ by some margin.
The tyres are shot.
It needs a damn good clean and TLC.
I prefer the looks to the Gen1.

Ok so first purchase for the Factory.
An Oxford solariser.

The garage has no power so this looked like it was worth a test.
Hooked it all up this morning and check the vbatt, voltage showing at 11.5 will see what it reads tomorrow :)

Hey Claude! Welcome to the forum mate.

Nice bike btw. Those on board voltage indicators aren't the most accurate and I might be talking out my arse here as im not genned up on the Gen 2 bikes but I believe the headlight is of the "always on" variety on those bikes which may affect the voltage reading displayed; unless aprilia took this into account on the design which would be unlikely!
Regardless hope we get some canny weather for it soon.

Yep all correct.
I'm less concerned about the figure more how it changes with the addition of the solar charger.
I checked the vbatt this morning, it was showing.... 11.5 lol
The position of the solar panel wasn't ideal though so I've now repositioned the bike, so the panel can now attach to the window.
I've also taken the battery off though and put it on mains charge. Provided the solar charger balances the power draw/loss then all is good :)
We'll see. :)

hi claude I have solar panel as well it works a treat m8 even through the cold weather.bought my rsvr 08 back in nov started first day after I got it then battery was flat I put solar panel on. now she starts first time even when not started for a couple of weeks cost me 12 quid

Very nice bike Claude. So, when you gonna spill the beans to the mrs? Have you written the speech yet? Not wanting to make things any harder but, my buddy Glen gave up bikes for a few years then bought a street triple after his son was born, took him a while to fess up. He's divorced now.
Good luck and enjoy! Lol.

Good to hear!
I'll be checking the battery with a multimeter (once I actually buy one).

Wife has no problem about me getting another bike it's just 'not now'. She's only concerned about ££ whilst she's on maternity leave.
I've mentioned that I'm going looking at bikes this weekend. :)

So crap tyres were annoying me so booked her in today for some new shoes.
Went for pilot road 3's as I've used them before on the R1 and at £255 fitted (+£25 back in way of a fuel voucher) I couldn't really argue.
Whilst the rear wheel was off I figured I'd dbl check that the swingarm recall had indeed been carried out as confirmed by Aprilia UK.

That'll be a no then. Wonder what happened to the swingarm that was claimed?!?
Anyway a quick call to Aprilia Merseyside (not the original dealers) and the ball is rolling. :)
When she goes in for the swingarm she'll be getting the clutch jet and oberon M/C upgrade as well, along with a fluid freshen up :)
