Well, the day I've been dreaming about for ages came yesterday, and now my drive is graced by a rather beautiful '03 Mille.
The bike is kept under an overhanging roof, (I'm going to get a cover for it, but the last cover I had melted to the top of my RS250's screen last summer (got it cleaned off eventually), which put me off them somewhat, but I am going to get one now, I think), but today it's been pissing it down which explains the bike looking a bit soggy after I wheeled it onto the road for some pics...

Can't wait for a beautiful dry sunny day though, ordered some decals for the wheels (2x aprilia logo decals, and a set of orange wheel rim stripe tape things that go round the wheel), got some decals for the screen, and come the first sunny day, I'm going to have the panels and tank off and spend a good few hours making her gleam like new.

I've got to admit, going from my RS250 (which is about as wide as the Mille's tank!) to the Mille (which is a lot taller and a lot wider), I'm slightly intimidated by the bike, however, I'll get used to her over summer :biggrin.

She's currently sitting without battery, which is charging in the back bedroom. Starting her half a dozen times yesterday just to hear the rumble (no baffle in the revolution can ;D) must have taken its toll. Going to get a Motobat MBTX12U Gel battery soon, and going to do the charging wiring mod (If someone could link me to that, that would be a big help) - the brown connector mod has already been done thankfully.

But yeah, new mille, looks gorgeous, sounds amazing, chuffed to bits and slightly scared too.
Still can't blip the throttle without laughing at how incredibly meaty the thing sounds - the pipe to the exhaust is thicker than my wrist! :thumbup.

why has it got a red tank ?

Cos it used to be a "hot red" mille. First owner had a minor front ender (I believe) so the nosecone was replaced with one off a black RSVR.
Previous owner went to put the red panels back on the bike only to find that cos of substandard paintwork, the paint had crazed and gone weird, so he sourced some black ones and put those on in leiu of the red ones.

Personally, I think the red tank suits the bike :). It goes well with the nosecone, which goes well with the seat unit. :)

thats all that counts mate

I've just fitted a Motobatt MBTX12U Gel to my 07 Mille - dunno about Gen 1's, but on my Gen 2 I had to make up a spacer to fit beneath the battery retaining clamp, and use longer bolts, to allow the clamp to fit. I also removed the central rubber bung from under the seat, and replaced it with a thinner one.

I like it..

made some changes to mine too (99 to 02-03) .. see my other posts.. Just acquired a new Carbon nose cone too..
