I own a 59 plate gen 2 tuono. It is the white/grey model. The tank has recently got bubbles all over the paintwork. Whats the best cure?

I too have the bubbles and from what I've read, we're ******, at least I am. Damn ethanol gas caused the tank to absorb water from it and change shape. Been looking for a used blue & white tank I can caswell coat so it won't happen to it.

Pictures of the bubbles would help are these big blisters or micro blistering from damp conditions and storage?

I have pierced the bubbles and used a hairdryer to flatten.. looks better.. but not perfect

Has this happened in the winter or summer? Seems to me that the external plastic decal has bubbled. As it's black it will absorb heat from the sun, and could soften and possibly become unstuck. Any minute air bubbles would then expand. Just a theory, but I would be surprised if Ethanol in the fuel in the tank would get through the tank sides to cause this. The tank would become porus and fuel evaporate if that was so.

In similar manner, I have seen white UPVS door panels melt in the sun, in a cold Northern Ireland, just because the door was repainted "black" and the upvc wasn't designed with the necessary additives to withstand the heat! For this reason, black upvc doors and also plastic gutters & drainpipes are more expensive (than white, or light coloured) due to plastic additives to withstand the heat absorbsion.
