Unfortunately I cant change the controls on this one, as the unit has a lot of extra functions- so I am stuck with the horn/indicator reversal- finglonger time;

As far as I can see there only purpose is to snag the top of my boot and try to make me fall over... I shall be removing them...

That contortion is my only way of operating the side-stand, very uncomfortable, and seems like it is designed so that I select first gear with my trouser leg when putting the stand down, or to block me resting my foot down in the usual way at traffic lights, plain dangerous- was the designer out to maim somebody? I shall be removing them.

Questions, if I remove them, should I inform my insurers? Does anyone know of alternatives that don't quite get in the way?

Next, these things are too loud, considering putting stock back on out of embarrassment...;

Is there any way to quieten them, how do I know if baffles are in or out?- I wasn't given them when I bought the bike. Are they even legal? I could probably get a few quid on ebay for them right?

Two lovely looking bikes there.
Crash bungs are normally an after market thing, you won't have to tell insurance if you remove them.
The studs on the foot rests are to let you know when you are banked over - as if you wouldn't know.
As for baffles, have a look, it will be obvious. T's are normally loud, even with original cans on. In my view thats a good thing, blind bats in cars may not see you, but they should hear you.
 
Ta for the reply, good to know about the bungs, I like the security, but these are difficult to work around, and as for the studs on the foot rests, they can get te!, if that's all they are for I can live without them (hopefully not famous last words).
Baffles, yeah T's are loud, that's why I don't want it louder, the white bike is conspicuous enough, and my neighbourhood will thank me to keep it down. I am aware, however, that the exhausts change the power distribution. I will try with the stock exhausts and see what difference it makes before permanently changing.

I went out on each bike earlier, trying to decide if I preferred one or the other, the '09 handles a tiny bit better and is faster, with extra, and more evenly evenly delivered power, but I don't really reckon it's much more 'fun' than the '05, you sit right on top of the '09, which is weirdly different, and the turning circle is much bigger, foot rests are higher too.

Loving the automatic fast idle, don't like the fat ***, or the clocks much- I loved the red-lit dash on the '05.
 
ive just picked a gen 2 up saturday, ive just ordered a new blade sidestand from hunts at manc. £72 the stock ones a joke! i got abad habit of catching the gear lever when putting the stand down.
 
the hero blobs on the foot pegs caused ne some bother to start with ,kept hooking into the top of my boots every time I put my foot on the road at jnc,s . easily removed with a 10 mm spanner .

like snowman sez fit some ap rearsets no more probs and a slightly better rear brake into the bargain .

crash bungs will save your bike in a spill and are worth the effort to work around , I fitted them to mine and thought what a pain in the arse , but you soon get used to ,em .

I will definitely be looking into the AP rear sets, looks like I could adjust the height of the footrests and levers, straighten out my legs a bit? Does anyone know which was the latest model Tuono to have the same riding position as the '05? That's the main thing that's putting me off keeping the '09... Although I'm also thinking it feels less 'fun'. Hard to explain that though..
 
That site is awesome! You can roll the mouse wheel and fade across the image of both bikes. Looks like the pre/post 2006 models are very different, the knee angle is better on the new one, although t doesn’t feel it. But the lean forward is greater on the new bike, as the front of the bike is lower. I never knew they were so different - looks like the bike I'm longing for is probably a late 2005 factory.
 
Just a wee update. Hate the gen2 compared to the gen1, still beats other bikes, but it's not as fun or as comfortable. Can't wait to get back on a gen1.
 
Got the pull tab of my left boot caught on the peg feeler when I tried to get off the T on the test ride. 1st thing I did when I got home was throw those things in the bin! Nice looking bike Verdomde. Both of em:thumbup
 
Yeah, I was just on to have a moan, my personal preference is for the old one. Longing to get my hands on a 2005factory. Totally got used to the crash bungs, I forget they are there now. Got used to the noise too, didn't find time to change the exhausts, was hoping to swap the bike before long. But too skint, so will have to keep this for the year now. It is definitely quicker and has better 'on demand' power, don't think i gear down as much as I had to on the g1. I think the riding position is better for more aggressive riding too, but I'm not that aggressive. G2 looks better too.
