Dipped beam lightbulb

My dipped beam bulb has blown, and I do not fancy riding London to Hastings with no lights, or being cursed at with full beams on all the way. If I call Green Flag, will they be able to change it, and what type should it be?
And is it straight forward?

Easy to change. You need to take the nose faring off - dead easy - 8 screws. The bulb holder needs to screw 1/4 turn out but be careful here cos its made of brittle plastic and the lugs snapped off on my 00. I had to super glue it back on. But if your not a ham fisted gorilla ( like me) you should be ok.

Its a standard double filament headlight bulb.

Thanks kev, green flag's on the way. If unsuccessful, it will be full beams all the way home tonight and I will go to the garage on monday morning. Sunday I will be in london working, riding on the prillie.

Green flag had no spare bulbs, so tomorrow afternon I will go and see Southern Cross in Kilburn, the RSV specialists.

Mate, they are a H7, most cars use them for Dip now...
Changed mine for a Blue / White Philips one in under a minute on Sunday. Mine's an 02 year and it's not a twist out, a U shaped wire clip running across the bulb back, tags to the right of the bike, reach in from the left and push them in to the front of the bike and splay apart to release them and out she comes....

Agreed:thumbup, probably the most popular bulb on cars
I sell H7 bulbs mate they are all same and cost about £2, :thumbup

Think my car is the twist out system. Couldn't figure it out myself! Got a mechanic mate to do it. Easy when it's been figured out for you.

The company I work for provides roadside assistance for 15 car manufacturers and employs hundreds of roadside technicians.

A basic part of the vehicles stock levels is at least one of every popular exterior lighting bulb, including some Xenon burners too.

I am pretty dismayed to read that Green Flag arrived on scene and had no bulb for you, if that was one of my techs I would have expected him to toodle off to Halfords buy one and fit it for you.

Absolutely unacceptable that the technician left you without resolving your lighting issue, day or night.

Looked at HID / Xenons first, but it was gonna work out at £40-50 inc postage etc

The bulb is brighter, a whiter light not blue, but different to the yellowy white of a normal bulb. Recommended for a tenner mate!

yeah dont be fooled with cheap imitations either like i just did on my xj
xenon gas charged H.I.D. it said on the packl, then in small print it said
Simulated HID light system Halogen bulbs.(green) tint.(XENON GAS CHARGED) madew by bike it.:jack
needless to say they dont look any brighter but do however produce a green tinge. thought i would try it on my commute bike first.

Went to Southern Cross in Kilburn yesterday and they changed it for me no fuss. What a sight! Aprilias everywhere, enough to get excited. And loads of like minded people who don't thing R1 is the ultimate machine.
BTW: they'll be getting one RSV4
