wear

Hey, am looking at a new T, The front tyre looks like this I haven't seen that kind of wear before, is it a bad omen? These are metzeler racetec rr, am guessing these are pretty focussed tyres, will they be ok on the road and in the rain? Any advice would be appreciated. P

I am looking for something thin but with ample protection.
