Just brought a 2006 with a bent LH clip on...is it easy to remove the top yoke to replace or easier to remove front wheel and drop fork leg?

hey guys i love working on my bike cars etc myself etc but nothing is ever as simple as it should be bloody pisses me right off :rant on this occasion i had a result my parents got me some titax levers for crimbo so went to fit them today.... as i am sure most of you know a piss easy job...

went out to clean and lube my chain earlier and noticed one of the sprocket nuts was loose enough that it would spin freely by hand. Had the wheel off and tried to remove the final drive so i could get to the bolt head behind the sprocket, wouldn't budge! Is this bad or is there a knack to it...
