loss!?!

Has anyone had any experience of your bike just cutting out for no obvious reason? It's a 2002 Mille, and i was just riding along normally (ish) and suddenly it just cut out and died, al electrics were still on and the dash still lit up but it just had a complete loss of power as if i'd hit the...
