Take a look at the drain plug next to the oil filter cover. I've just done my first diy oil change. I took some advice posted on here and ordered a KTM bolt head drain plug instead of the hex key original. Bloody good job too, looks like the monkey previous owner f'd up all the allen head bolts...

Doh, I think I might have stripped the drain plug by the sprocket! I used the torque wrench but looks like the silly recessed alan key has turned not sure. I bought one of the KTM replacements so I hope that's it. Will take a closer look soon. Any pointers ? Ta.

Is there a copper or ally washer to mate the surface of the drain plug head onto the crankcases? I have a gen 2 rsv 1000. Thanks.

Did the oil change on the RSV only to get as far as the drain plug on the engine casing. Which had a round hole where the hexagonal one should have been. I've tried the correct hex key and it just spins. Which doesn't fill me with confidence and probably means the last oil change was only...

hey guys, mine is totally damaged, do you know if the RS125 oil bolt (a lot of them on ebay) will fit RSV's ROTAX V990 ? or is there someone having one spare willing to send me? or is there any replacement which fits?

Mornin' all... I got the Mille stripped down a bit at the weekend, mainly just to have a look under the fairings and see where the relevant bits are for the oil change planned for next weekend. I noticed that the allan/hex head on the oil drain plug (crank case not oil tank) is a bit mullered...

I am still trying to fix my clutch slippage. I have some new Barnett Springs and a supposedly revised pressure plate from Af1. Do I absolutely have to drain my oil to swap this stuff in? I thought I read somewhere that it is not necessary if u use the kickstand.

HMMMM. I have a very slight oil leak after changing my oil (first time I've done it on this bike). I managed to get the bottom drain plug back right first time, and the extended filter cover right on the second attempt (didn't tighten it enough the first time as I didn't want to break it! ) but...

Being new to Aprilia and apparently very fresh when it comes to changing my own oil, I wasn't aware of this second drain plug. I've changed the oil twice since I've had the bike and never knew there was a second drain plug by the oil filter. Is this bad?? how bad? and should I go and change...

Hi, I am changing the oil in my mille and found there is no washer on the second drain bung next to the filter, should there be one or not? seems a bit odd there not being one so thought i would ask. thanks:dunno

What is the size of the tool to the socket head for the oil drain plug? Closest i could find in my toolbox is 7/16, but it is a little to small.

seems the last owner had bigger arms (or wrists!) than me, the main oil drain bolt next to the filter wont budge, the hex key is bending! I think I am using size 6, is this correct (before i round the bugger off!)? cheers!

I think its a 6mm crush washer, where the hell can you get them from Any ideas...............:confused
