Hi folks, The battery on my 2003 Gen 1 is now not holding charge & as it was on the bike when I bought it 4 months ago, its age etc is unknown. Given the wealth of experience here, any pointers for bad 'uns to steer clear of? Bike is kept in locked garage, ridden once or twice a week...

should all be fine... but been sitting for a few years though... 2 are New... only been used for about 1 month each... hence FREE... or they get binned... seems a shame though !! :biggrin

Anybody tried these batteries? They're popular with BMW riders, apparently, cos they provide high cranking power, and are deep-cycle so can be fully discharged. My only worry is that it'll overpower the starter solenoid. Any experience out there?

Hi... winters coming... so going to start preparing the bike for extra cold starts !! :thumbup question... upgrading the battery from 12 to a 14... i know it has plus sides but are there any negative points... ie takes longer runs to charge than a 12... is there extra stress on the charging...

Just fitted a new absorbant glass matt battery, it lasted all of two weeks before it didn't have the guts to spin the engine, without the voltage dropping and resetting the clocks. What brand of batteries are you guys fitting with success.
