12v

So I'm about to take a feed from the side light in order to get a 12v switched supply to my new tomtom. Am I best tapping into the sidelight supply close to the bulb itself or further back on the loom. Access is very easy close to the sidelight bulb on my gen 1 and probably the easiest way but...

Not too clued up about electrickery so looking for some advice. Have ordered a 12v usb socket to run a sat nav. Before I fit it want to know if it will drain the battery if nothing is plugged into it? Also will the alternator be man enough to cope with the extra drain running a sat nav off it...

My starter solenoid has the following on it rc18-003 12v made in japan Any idea if it's the standard item? Just wondering if I should upgrade it or not?

After having a few probs with starting i thought id post this link to help all those with the dreaded " not starting " issues. This is a 12v 150 amp solenoid which i found to be very usefull. Hope this helps some of you like it did me...
