Always pissin down with rain Sussex

I have a yuasa YTX12-BS battery fitted to my 03 RSVR and I am having occasional sluggish starting problems, seen from other threads that I could need an upgrade on the battery & starter relay. Battery has been fitted for 4 years and on optimate most of the time which still comes up as all OK.
Took the cover off to see if there is any acid left in it as I heard this can evaporate over time. Its completely dry inside.
Can I add distilled water or is it knackered :dunno
