...both to the forum and to the bike - signed on the dotted line last friday on a seemingly immaculate 2005 factory, but can't pick it up until next week once the finance clears. Have ridden jap 4s for the past 20 years, and now decided on a whim to retire the trusty old YZF750 to trackdays and treat myself to something shiny and different for the road...what have I done?

Most importantly, what's all the opinions on what needs to be done to the stock bike to improve it for general road riding? slip ons? full system? akrapovic? arrow? air filter? mapping (never owned a fuel injected bike before)? power commander (whatever one of those is)? all experience and advice welcomed..

cheers

welcome to the site matey. mods required really depend on yer budget, the cheapest is one tooth less on the front sprocket, the most expensive a full Tigcraft or Akrapovich system and pC11/custom map. Then theres slipper clutches, carbon, clutch slave, etc etc ..oh .did I mention carbon fibre!!
cheers CK

Welcome mate enjoy the site and all the advice, i have found that an air box, 1 tooth down, carbon map 2 and a good handful of throttle are all you need!:thumbup:thumbup:thumbup where area do you live in, that way advice on the best place to service etc will be very handy alot of garages out there know nothing and otehrs will rip you off:jack

I'm in Greenwich. I've seen the other threads recommending southern cross up in kilburn which is not a million miles away so might have to have a potter over there once I get it, but I really hate town riding so anywhere out of town essex/kent way are usually preferable, at least for a saturday morning blast...

budget needs to be sensible so a full system is probably out....could take a look at mogwai7's arrow cans - am I correct that the 04 and 05 are the same regarding this stuff (told you I was a newby...)?

Mate i have arrows on they are great:devious ask anyone who has ridden in front or behind, makes the ears bleed:scared:

Take the 406 ring road round to southern cross ask for Don or Andy and say Gary suggested them:thumbup They will look after you, if they know what crowd you hang out with, only because they know we all go back there:locked

Welcome mate.

You're not a million miles from me so if you also fancy a ride out some time give me the nod or something.
