Yamaha Starter Solenoid

Does anyone know where to get one of these off the net mail order?

Failing that does anyone know the part number?

Also how hard are these to swap for the OEM?

Pt no 4kd-81940-00 As far as i know its just out with the old, in with the new. Plug and play.

Its funny that in the workshop manual they list the starter relay as 12v 100amp, but when you pull it out to replace it, it has 12v 50amp on it. Was the 50amp one put in by mistake at the factory? I am sure that the 12v 100amp will turn the engine over alot faster.

Tennere 600 i think it is...just chk'd the site..its under Aprilia as well..it seems to be pretty universally used :D

Cool thread, as mine has just gone. Shorting it out with a lump of metal in petrol stations raises eyebrows....

take your seat cowl/fairing off its on the right hand side mounted to sub frame just further back than rider seat
cant see it or get at it with seat fairing on though

Where exactly is this located on the bike.

Anyone got a piccy!!!!!

Not got a piccie mate but follow the live (red) cable from the battery and it goes straight to the solenoid after about 8 inches. (Does that sound obscene?):dowhat

Obscene maybe..however totally correct :D

What Amp rating is the Yamaha unit lads...this oemparts page shows the Aprilia unit to be 150A
STARTER RELAY 12V/150A

That's strange, I read somewhere that the Aprilia is rated at 50 Amp and the Yam is 100 Amp.
