"WTF" NO Donington

H

HondaCBRrr06

:rant Just been on teletext and see that not only have formula 1 dropped "Donny" but the Britsh Superbikes have also pulled out of the 2010 calendar,,,, I wonder if this has put the World Superbikes in jeopardy ,,,,, already booked my accomadation ( ***** ) :dunno

I've not got a lot of sympathy for Donny, they blatantly turned thier backs on bike racing co's they were pushing hard for the F1 circus, now that Bernie Twatlleston has rogered them :jack they're in ***** and expect people to go ahead and support them ...... doesn't work like that! :pirate

I understand business and that it's about diversifying and growing your market but ......... the flip side of that is that it needs subtlety and for you to try and not burn your current business bridges!!

Your friendly business tutor :biggrin me I rich I am :roll

Deacs :thumbup

PS. Donny has always been my 2nd best UK track (Brands GP is number 1 :thumbup) and its a shame really that this has happened - hopefully you'll get yer accommodation deposit back HondaCBRrr06 :thumbup

:pisser2 Agree with u there Deacs ,,,, facilities at Donny were the worst ever ,,,, ***** to put it politely ,,,, 40 minute queues for loo,s etc etc etc ,,,, but spectating at Redgate watching down the craner curves was second to none :pisser2

Certainly is the fault of the twats who hold the lease to it - but with them in the **** and the old geezer who actually owned it having just died, you've got to worry that somebody might be eyeing it up as a prime site for 10,000 deluxe executive mansions. Would hate to lose it.

just heard donny bsb round in may is going to be at cadwell so now two bsb rounds there!

i hope they get it sorted - new track layout looks mint! also, have fond memories of watching the second season of moto gp bikes there, smoking tyres coming out of coppice - il3s, il4s, v4s, v5s ahhh the noises!!!! :inlove would be a shame to not have that any more...
come on donny sort it out! :rant

Even the Donington Park website has gone **** up :mad1

Donnington looks like an abandoned road building project.......,..... which is what it is, I guess........ I tend to agree with Deacs, they didn't look after punters.

If MotoGP gets the original chicaneless GP circuit at Silvers (think Kenny, Barry Sheene) it will be the fastest on the calender, proper balls out corners. Donnington was essentially two circuits crammed together, the beauty of the classic Silvers track is they don't slow down........The problem was viewing, you need a bit of altitude to see the majority of the circuit from most places. The plan at the mo is to use the classic GP ciruit, if that happens and the viewing gets sorted I think it'll be way better than Donny.

Much as i'm not a particular fan of Donnington it will be a shame to lose another circuit.

Once it's gone it's gone.

If you want to be sceptical you could say that Bernie Twattlestone knew F1 would never go there.
It may have just been a big stick to beat Silverstone with and Donnington are the fall guys.

It just needs someone with a bit of dosh and some proper business savvy to get hold of it and turn it around. Mr Palmer maybe ?

Once it's gone it's gone

If BSB has gone along with MotoGP and the F1 plans, then I suppose the future of the whole circuit could be in question. Having said that tracks can survive without the big events although in the current climate, who knows?

Anybody any wiser as to the future yet ???? :dunno

rang focused events thursday maybe trackdays from may 2010 here's hoping

Would be cool to have the chicaneless Silverstone on MotoGP, that was one of my favourite corners on trackdays until they changed it due to insurance I believe. Although personally I think its more dangerous with the chicane!
