Im a young biker [ ahem ] .... well 44 !
Now everybody on a bike used to nod to each other ..... went for a little spin down to Exeter on sunday and no fecker nods back any more , is everyone too cool to nod nowadays ? I get more nods from Harley riders nowadays than peeps on sportsbike / nakeds / adv bikes . one guy looked at me from the other side of some traffic lights , i nodded and the ****** looked the other way , WTF !!
Ive always helped out bikers stuck at the side of the road and even put their bikes in me van and given them a lift , but now i just think **** em , every bugger seems ignorant and it shouldnt be like that , so come on chaps , nod back as we are all in it together ..

You may notice it pissed me off a bit .....

I aint gonna stop nodding as im not an ignorant bugger :crazy

Rant over , i feel better now ..

Or is it just me i wonder ??

no its not just you , this pisses me off too . i went for a run out on sunday just for a hour up the north norfolk coast rd .

I saw several bikes some on their own some in groups and a group of 8 or 9 harleys .

out of that lot prob only 3 nodded back , the harley types just completely blanked me .

makes me fookin angry too . ignorant koonts .

what the fook is the matter with people .:banghead:banghead:mad1

is it the born again types i wonder , or is it just the **** you attitude

Rest assured shotgun if im ever down north somerset i,ll wave to ya !!

Come up North. We still nod. It's the exception to the rule when you get blanked.

Harley Riders don't nod or wave...( Except to other Harley riders ) Way toooo uncool!

We do the "biker wave" in the US. Left hand out and down with a finger or two pointing. I've noticed the ADV types don't wave back. My guess is they're new riders as that's the bike of choice for a 50+ guy just getting into riding.
Hardcore Harley guys usually do not. You know, the nazi helmet types. Non-1%er wannabes do usually wave back though. The younger kids/squids on jap sport bikes usually do not.
If I'm clutching and can't obviously wave I nod.
I always do one or the other regardless if the other initiates. If they do not return my kind "unconditional" gesture I usually scream out a "f-you pal." Of course if I do that to true 1%ers you'll likely never see me post again :)

its simple,...most UK bikers are car drivers that are relatively new to bikes. They have no idea about biker lore.

Im a young biker too (41) and I nod to fellow bikers and make no distinction between L plates, cruisers, sports bikes or otherwise. I'm in the Herts region and I occasionally get blanked but it doesn't really bother me. Some folk just dont like to acknowledge other riders.

As a young man I can remember when it was considered the done thing to do to acknowledge people who have the same car as you. Certainly dont see that nowadays.

#south wales been biking 35 yrs ..always nod ...only the harleys don.t seem to nod or wave ..wots that all about

It seems us Tuono riders are better than all the others then , already knew that though .....

Glad im not the only one who gets pissed off with the ignorant twats !!!

I'd rather raise my left hand and wave than nod,,,,,,,,,it's harder to ignore but not always possible.

I'm not fussy, I'll wave to abod,,,,,,,,,,,,,even car drivers that see yer approachin and move over a bit to let yer through.

Thats coz Harley riders are better than anyone else.:p

Yes,my other bike is a Harley Sportster.;):biggrin

It's funny how motorcycle brands become cults and if you're not validating that cults credibility you are a suck arse outsider. The motorcycling community's small enough that we don't need any further fragmentation.

THose D'k heads that you're speaking off really don't give a rats arse about motorcycling, they just need to belong because of their suffering social skills. So getting a this or that bike is more about being a part of something.

I love motorcycles, period. The Triumph bunch isn't much better at times, especially the classics diehards (bonnies, Thruxtons, etc.). Part of what turns me off to the brand, and I've owned three of them and the brand continues to suffer because the fan-boys applaud the lack of traction control, slipper clutch, etc, so they're not evolving relative to the competition. As I get older more and more of the local riding populace seems to be made out of introverts or clandestine coolaid drinkers. I go for the best bike that fits me and my current riding wants/needs regardless of who makes it, and being half Italian has absolutely nothing to do with me liking the T.

Forgive the rant, but I remember when riders used to be cool and friendly and not a bunch of introverted, insecure piss-ants who need a motorcycle to put distance between themselves and a society that they do feel a part of, or comfortable with. There's rebellious and there's just plain anti-social. I think we all have a little of that Lone Wolf in us or we wouldn't be riding but I'm more about the thrill then being a Bat Man wannabe.

Always nod but some guys don`t , simple as that.

sometimes I ride a Hardly dangerous and see some that are shocked

strange world

You are missing the point lads, its because you are on a Tuono they don't wave back, they are so in awe of the fact that you are riding a real mans bike and that you must have "balls of steel" that they are simply to overcome with admiration to nod!. Rob
