Had all the usual won't start probs new batt new solenoid new fuel pump etc etc but this must be a first as my 03 factory won't switch off.Went for a spin everything fine till I pulled over for a *** break, no way to stop the ***** without using the kill switch could even remove the key! Came home sharpish without stopping and now confused even more as ***** now starts and idles at 4000rpm and still won't turn off? Only thing I notice is a previous prob that fuel pump doesn't prime on ignition but does when you press start but like I said its a new pump.Hacked off because I was starting to enjoy her again but its only lasted 2 monthes plus I need her for Olivers mount race meet.Ps yes done tilt switch side stand etc.Cheers dudes .

Sorry, to drag up an old thread, but I'm having this exact same problem on my '05 Tuono. Only 7000 miles and I've always looked after it. Done the Yam solenoid mod and fitted a updated cca Yuasa AGM sealed battery. Had the bike since it was about two years old, and this is the first real problem I've ever had with the bike.

A few weeks back, got home and the bike wouldn't turn off with the key. Had to use the kill switch to stop the engine running as there was no way to get the electrics to turn off but to take the battery out. The weird thing is, occasionally the key will work and the key will switch the bike on and off fine. Then overnight usually, the bike just switches itself on! Electrics only, I can tell you though, it's a bit surreal to see the bike sat there with the running lights on sat there waiting for me KITT style!!!

Thanks for any help you can offer folks.

The factory immobiliser is the problem, on mine I think I caught it early. It would only switch off by the kill switch, key would switch off the electronics but continue to run. Also the fuel pump was not cycling at switch on .
Took side panel off and there was water ingress into two of the connectors feeding the immobiliser, cleaned and greased them and all fine now, so will periodically service them.
