after the winter lie up i went to start mine today, its been on an optimiser but when i hit the button there was just clicking from the solenoid thats positioned just behind the battery,do you think the battery maybe dead?

Yes. What's the bikes voltage meter saying? It's not very accurate but it'll give you an idea. Sounds like its had it though unless your charger isn't working properly.

Hi mate,The voltmeter is saying about 13 volts and healthy and the lights are bright as usual so i cant understand why the bike isnt even trying to turn the engine over

Sounds as if starter button may be dirty and not passing proper voltage or the relay is *****.

Tuoldo ??? Replace the starter solenoid for a 150 amp one if its not been done anyway, it'll give up soon enough. Dead easy.

You could bridge the terminals with a big screwdriver to try the old one first if you want. Turn the key wait for the start up procedure to end, don't press the start button. Put the screwdriver across the two big nuts and hold firm. If that starts it the solenoids dead.

If its a Tunewno it'll be summat else:sigh

its a gen 1 tuono if thats what you meant and are you referring to the solenoid behind the battery is that the starter solenoid?

mines right behind the battery underneath the riders seat, but you guys have been bang on with the diagnosis ive shorted a screwdriver across and it spun over,so solenoid required anybody know where?

and thanks guys youve been a great help.....

Must take me Falco hat off. I got one from the Rocket Centre in Blackburn, about 25 quid. Same for a lot of Prillas, Rsv's/Falco's etc. Theirs a Yamaha one that fits straight on to.

Yes mine was changed to a Yam one before I had it. Its the R1 relay isn't it?

Noooooo I don't think so dude. I'm sure I've read that the R1 one don't fit. Apparently thats a common assumption being its a liter sports bike and all. The right one fits quite a few Yammy's but I'm not sure which one. Aprilia did a 150a one, for the gen 2's I believe. Thats the one I went for. Been sound since I fitted it along with a new bat'. Although if Nob is right I put it in place of the tip over switch !! I ****** hope I didn't

i managed to get hold of the ms5d 191 hitachi and i think thats the 150 amp one from what ive read, also is it possible to get the thicker battery cables on the wrong way round and what would happen if you did?
